In a few games that I've tried; namely The Great Battle IV (J), and ActRaiser 2 (U), the characters including the protagonist that I control and the enemies flicker or disappear for a few seconds on being hit. This makes the games unplayable. I've tried to use different graphic modes (PSP accelerated +- accurate soft,..etc) and toggled the Hack video menu items one by one to check if any change would do the trick, but nothing helped. Vsync is off. How can I fix this issue? Thanks.

Solved.
Frameskip was on 1. Setting it back to 0 solved the issue.
However, I'd like to know if it's possible to avoid this 'disappear' issue when frameskip is on.
Thanks.

Sounds like the game uses "on-off-on-off" for the flicker effect. Set frameskip to 2, and you should be OK.

On FSkip 2, the flicker goes away, but what if I need to play on FSkip 1 ?

That's about as good as it gets I'm afraid, as radon22 mentioned, the game uses a on-off-on-off flicker effect, so on frame skip 1 you're skipping every second frame - i.e. skipping the "on" frame or the "off" frame entirely: "on-skip-on-skip" or "off-skip-off-skip" Frame skip 2 will skip every third frame, so you get "on-off-skip-off-on-skip" etc So to avoid this issue in games where they use this technique, you're limited to "even" fskip numbers You *could* try auto, which would adjust it as needed (possibly giving you 0 or 2 during flicker effects, and 1 elsewhere) but it would take some testing to find out if it works

exenteth: actually, it RENDERS every third frame and skips th rest, so it would be on-skip-skip-off-skip-skip-on-...
What you said still holds though, when you get a frame you get on and off.

Err.. right, hehe, I wasn't thinking Sorry Wouldn't make sense to skip only 1 frame on every setting... there'd be no speed up *sigh* I need sleep lol
