Hi there. I hope I'm not bothering anyone, I've tried doing as much research as I've been able to in the subject and have gotten somewhat mixed answer depending on where I went. It seems like a simple question, can the out of the box firmware for the Slim run the SNES9XTYL 0.4.2 or is it necessary to get custom firmware?
Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Do a search on DCEmu or MaxConsole for the Pandora Battery, which is the method for installing custom FW on the slim. You will *need* a phat-version battery, either pandora-ed already, or someone with an unlocked fat to pandora-ize it.

You need custom firmware, but you can get custom firmware on your psp without a fat. I did it today without using a fat. Just search around (I don't know the forum rules, if they don't want you posting outside links) and you'll find the way to put cfw on a slim (that's what I have).

You can post all the links you want as long as the referred content is within the rules (ie, nothing illegal, etc).
