THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY USELESS THREADS ABOUT FIRMWARES AND SLIMS BECAUSE OF THE OLD OUTDATED STICKIED INSTRUCTIONS/READMES THAT I DECIDED TO MAKE A NEW GUIDE.
ANY UNOFFICIAL FIRMWARE (AND EVEN OFFICIAL 1.00/1.50) on any MODEL CAN RUN SNES9x TYL (I recommend 3.71 M33-4 for slim users, and 3.90 M33-3 (with fatsmod upgrade) for phats, yet this is subject to change with time). IF U HAVE AN OFFICIAL MODEL ABOVE 1.50 U NEED TO DOWNGRADE/UPGRADE USING EITHER THE N00BS GTA, LUMINES, (either) TIFF exploit, or Pandora/Desptar Cementario before u can run it. REMEMBER WHILE READING THIS GUIDE WHENEVER U DOWNLOAD SOMETHING FROM AN EXTERNAL SOURCE READ THE README (no s**t sherlock eh?) OR IT MAY NOT WORK AND U MAY BREAK UR PSP PERMENENTLY (IF U DO WHUT I, and README's SAY THERE IS a .00001% chance of this happening and a 99.999999% chance of being able to unbrick it). Finally, all external links point to archives, if u can't unpack them get someone else's help if u have no clue what i'm saying, or just use 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) the best archiver out there on windows. In linux just double click ur mouse (Double entendre intended) on the archive and hit extract.

Anyways heregoes: check ur firmware version (go to settings, system, version info or something like that). If it has any letters in it in software version or if its less than or equal to 1.50 skip to the next section (after dashes). Also, keep in mind that for any firmware you can use desptar del cementario to achive the same result (this is discussed in 5, yet if the first point applies to u it is significantly easier).
1) If it is less than or equal to 2.80 use eLoader released by noobs to downgrade to 1.50 and upgrade to M33, alternatively HEN ur 2.80 and create a Desptar Del Cementario kit, then upgrade to M33 (this is safer as no keys can get corrupted) if they do use Chilly Willy's key cleaner. I recommend downgrading (as creating pandora battery may be impossible on HEN as it only has user access its worth a try anyways before u downgrade) but whatever... Links:

(Once you completed either route go to 4)
2) If it is less than or equal to 3.10 you need to buy an unpatched coppy of GTA VCS (easily found on amazon, A PHYSICAL COPY ONE U CAN HOLD [IN RESPONCE TO ALL U *cough a$$wh0lez* PIRATES])), or unpatched lumines (if u chose this route go to 3). 3) If it is less than 3.50 or u are stuck and can't upgrade due to Sony's upgradelock u must buy an unpatched copy of Lumines (recomended from amazon, A PHYSICAL COPY ONE U CAN HOLD [IN RESPONCE TO ALL U *cough a$$wh0lez* PIRATES]). Then use the Lumines exploit found here: www.noobz.eu/joomla/news/downgrader-for-psp-v3.50-firmware.html. go to 6.
5). On ANY OTHER FIRMWARE you must aquire a pandora battery and magic mem stick (u need a customed psp to LEGALY make it, so don't ask for it [unless u want the physical object] if u can't find it urself). You can buy a Datel TOOL/Service Mode Battery, borrow it, or u can make ur own with this: pspupdates.qj.net/Noobz-C-D-release-Pandora-s-Battery-unbricker-for-all-PSPs/pg/49/aid/100579. For the mem stick I recomend getting Despertar del Cementerio V3 (unless u desperately want the new sony features)[http://exophase.com/files/psp/despertar_cementerio3.rar] and using it to first backup ur nand and then install M33. Immediately after this upgrade to 3.71M33-4. Otherwise u can use v5 but there is an annoying regression in fatsmod that makes future firmwares unfavorable. Once u are on 3.71M33-4 go to 6
6) Follow up downgrade (if u performed one) with KeyCleaner(http://dl.qj.net/KeyCleaner-v1.4-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/14576/catid/190) if u experience downgrading issues (ie low backlight, wierd keys/sound, or any other glitch that wasn't there before, finally go to 5.
7) I recomend upgrading to an OE/M33 firmware + 1.50 kernel addon (Especially on a PHAT) (currently recomend 3.71 M33-4 due to regression in the fatsmod driver of future firmwares, if u want the new features use 3.90-3 +1.50ker. add. but install fatsmod (if u plan on using irshell install the 390 patch (on irshell.org) first then install fatsmod driver. OK here's ur guide to doing this on a supported machine:
1) Do u have a slim?
(If yes go to 2, else go to 3 (or u can go to 2 if u don't care about minuscule performance drops and extreme power consumption)
2) Do u have a kernel 3.xx build (If yes go to 5 if no go to 4)
3) Do u have the 1.5 kernel addon installed or is ur firmware bellow 3.60 M33 (get it direct from DAX at dark-alex.org) Download SNES .42 me version which tinnus hosts here (ruka's mod (which has some more optimizations) works fine too just google for it). Follow the readmes if it doesn't work go to 5
4) U can get an ME build at dl.qj.net/Snes9xTYL-0.4.2-ME-for-PSP-Slim-PSP-Emulators/pg/12/fid/14889/catid/135. This is recommended, as it is much more efficient and faster, yet consumes a hell of a lot of power. Or the normal build at dl.qj.net/Super-Nintendo-SNES/pg/12/fid/14561/catid/135. After this follow the instructions in the readme if this still doesn't work go to 5
5) Hey ********* hippopotamus ************* is it in the right folder and do u have the right kernel set in recovery (hold R on boot)? On a phat never choose 1.50 kernel as u have a specific folder for its homebrew called GAME150 so move all ur 1.50 things to it! On 1.50 official firmware just copy both folders to PSP/GAME and run it from xmb. If it still doesn't work and u can't enter recovery with these simple directions go to 6. Also if it's a 3.xx build or ur on a slim MAKE SURE it's in GAME or GAME371 (u cant figure this out by checking if there's 2 folders which generally signifies its 1.50) If it's still not working go to 6
6) Ur a fraking lier (pardon the battle star reference), an idiot (check ur previous answers), or have a corrupt/semi-bricked firmware install, i recommend reinstalling it with Despertar del Cementerio, and upgrading to 3.71 M33-4, or 3.90 M33-5 depending on ur preference.)

A: First of this is a complaint not a question, yet i recomend trying to get a pandora kit as this may be easier, and there are services found online that do it for you. Also, n00bz has a service that tries to deliver unpatched lumines to the public so check out those options.
Q: I now have a hombrew enabled psp can i do other things with it?

A: Most of the time there is nothing you can do, however if u are desperate, try the following. First, aquire the most recent snesadvance.dat. This is actually hard to track down, so i recomend fetching the one from rukka's mod first, and if it doesn't help search other places (check maxconsole). Second, if this doesn't help, disable all seplugins (enter recovery>plugins and disable each). Finally, try to use rukka's mod (u'll have to install/use timemachine if ur on a slim) as it has numerous speedups and improvements.
