Hi, I have a V1.50 PSP, and I have been using your program for a while now. I have run into a small bug that I thought you should know about. I have a number of games, all of which play sound effects perfectly ( I even checked the compatibility list) but for some reason, If I load a game three times, or switch to three different games, I lose all sound. Its not terribly bad, because if I exit and reboot your program, I regain sound, but it can be quite annoying... Just thought you should know.

P.S. Thank you for making such an incredible program, keep it up!

With most games, the emulator will hang for a full minute or two at any time it has to load anything. During this time the memory stick light only flashes once every second or so. The error message "synchronization lost" also appears constantly at the bottom of the screen after a short period of time. Using uncompressed zip files does not help, and while it is hanging none of the buttons are responsive except for home. This makes some games pretty much unplayable, such as Last Blade 2 or King of Fighters which will hang repeatedly during each match. Metal Slug is the only game I have tried that does not seem to have this problem, or perhaps it is just less pronounced and the error message does not appear. I have tried everything I can think of to try to isolate the problem, including reformatting my memory stick and reinstalling everything, repacking all of my roms (I have tried both winzip and winrar), to no effect. I really like this emulator, and your snes emulator as well, but this is effectively unplayable for me.
Thank you, Almadiel
p.s.- the long waiting period to register for your forums really discourages constructive feedback.

sorry for the long period to activate your account. I didn't notice that after the last updates of proboards forum, the default setting was set to "account need approval". I changed that so every new registration is automatically approved :-) regarding your lost sync issue, I'll have to check since I never encountered this... Perhaps it memory stick related, since some are slower than others.

I would be happy to provide any additional information you may need. The memory stick I am using is the Sandisk Pro Duo 256MB. Considering how common that stick is, and that the access light only blinks infrequently while the emu hangs, I would not imagine that IO is the problem.

I tried a different, older psp emulator and it didn't have this problem. I don't know who's emulator it is because everything is in japanese though the version number was 0.1b. Of course it isn't very playable given that it lacks hardware acceleration and has little sound.

I'll be on holidays for a few days, so I'll check this after. meanwhile, can you try with an older version of neocdpsp (mine, not the japanese one) ?
I remember playing kof99 & lastblade 1 without such issues. moreover, perhaps your dump has something wrong... if you downloaded an iso, try another one... I cannot give you links since it's illegal...

The loading problem is present, and more pronounced, in your version 0.1. I was also able to purchase a new 1 GB memory stick at a discount yesterday and should have it by the end of the week to test with.

why i cant hear any music while playing? you have the same problem guys? Have you put the all music tracks in a folder named "neocd.mp3"? Also the mp3's must be named for example: King Of Fighters 99 - Track 02 King Of Fighters 99 - Track 03 King Of Fighters 99 - Track 04....and so on.

The same problem seems to be present even when using a different memory stick with a fresh install.

the loading "issue" isn't an issue : it's the way neogeo cd works. I don't know if you ever played on the real thing (I suppose not), but it had really loooonnnngg loading times. but the "lost sync" message is an issue.. do you still have it with your new memstick ? I tried last blade 2 and done a few fights (4 if I remember well) and had no issue at all....

But if the load time is IO bound, then why is the memory stick barely being accessed during this time? While the loading time of another emulator is an order of magnitude faster?

because in most of the other emulators, cartridge are emulated, not cdrom access. Moreover neogeo cd uses a very slow double speed cdrom...

I was referring to the other neogeo cd emulator.

Hi Yoyo,
I have the lost sync problem too. It happens to me when I play kof97 with music on. When I use only sound effects it runs smooth and no messages. Other thing I've noticed: the message stops when I get to the emu menu and come back to the game. When another fight begins.... here's the same message again. But I don't see any lost of sync with the music (after all, it's not aligned with the fights). Maybe it's just a message in the wrong place (the gameplay is normal, the fps slows down a bit, but this is because of the music on)?? I say that the lost of sync problem is not that bad, and if it bothers, just turn off the music.
If you want I can check with other games (I'll try last blade 2). I have already tried last blade 2: there were no problems even with music. It seems to be game related (and not card related - mine is a sandisk 1Gb).
Thank you for the excellent work,
glac.
