Hey all. I just discovered LJP today and I'm having some problems getting it to work. It can work perfectly when loaded from the SD card, but I can't use the keyboard. So, I read around and tried copying it to internal memory, seeing if that would get the keyboard working. Now it just resets any time I try to do anything (mainly pressing the 8-dir keypad, a problem non-occurring when loaded from SD card). Something I'm doing wrong? I am using the latest version, since this is my first time using LJP (and my first week with a Centro at all!) Also, nothing to do with LJP, but is it possible to get the Centro to show up as a removable drive on a PC running XP? I don't want to have to do that syncing crap if all it needs is some good old fashioned drag and drop.

1. Which version of LJP do you use? 2. Did you read other posts in the forum regarding similar problems? 3. Buy a card reader.

1. I'm using 1.0 RC8 2. I read most of the posts on the font page... (Some of which were similar) 3. I have a card reader. Works wonders for connecting the card, not so much for connecting the phone.

1) Get 1.0.2 or whatever newest version is from MetaView's site. 3) If you want to send stuff to the phone, put it in the card (/PALM/Launcher) and then use the phone to transfer to internal memory. I do this all the time since I lost my cable But there are some programs like Pilot Install that send stuff far faster than HotSync.

I thought _Em said it was 1.0.2 somewhere. Anyway, I just said "whatever the latest version is" ;D

I think Tinnus should give MetaView ftp access so we don't get anymore "Im using RC8"/"Use 1.0.1" posts.
But it is up to him.

*sigh* It's actually hard to update it and then Henk just gets another bugfix release out the door. But I'll do this again. And I'll only do it AGAIN if Henk promises he won't bugfix it in a month ;D

I'm not sure if I can just give him the user and password for FTP, since Hans is the owner/admin (not me) and the FTP also gives access to his other websites.

Well we need to get in touch with Hans and see if he'll give Henk access then!

I doubt Henk would be an irresponsible user -- but a standing link somewhere at the top saying "The version of LJP on this site might not be the latest version. Check metaviewsoft.de/wordpress regularly for the latest development versions" might cut down on the recent flurry of posts regarding known issues in old versions.

I'm still interested in this guys original question. I have vista running, and once when I connected by usb vista recognized my centro as a palm device, but it showed no contents in the "drive". Anyway to have access to the RAM via windows? Also anyway to run ljp and roms from main memory?

You can have access to the SD card from windows using programs like Card Export II, but there's no way that I know of to get access to the RAM via windows.
You can run LJP from main memory, but the ROMs themselves need to be on an external card.

The centro has an internal hidden volume, the files may be there too... Maybe it works.

I use centro and vista(I'm going to upgrade to xp though soon.)

I agree. A REAL good upgrade. But why not Linux? Ubuntu's gotten pretty good :-)
Back on topic: You can't run LJP entirely from RAM. You need a card for the *.zem's and the ROMs.

Of course I trust him, and I'd do it if it was my website(s), but I don't feel really right to "propagate" trustness. Maybe I'll do a notice like that. I wish I knew how to fix the reversed-news problem! If anyone has any ideas (except the onespeople already posted, whic don't work) please state them here. The blog simply started to display backwards one day

Which ones are already posted? You probably need to adjust the SQL-string which reads the news from the database: something like ORDER BY date DESC;
|
|
|
Post by countbuggula on Apr 16, 2008 15:55:51 GMT 1
And this is why Metaview needs his own access to the website
|
|
|
Post by _Em on Apr 16, 2008 19:36:46 GMT 1
Metaview's probably correct... it probably has a query ORDER BY date; that used to default to DESC and now defaults to ASC. Add in the DESC and it should start working correctly -- assuming you have access to the code at that level.

Well, I did some conversing with Hans, and he said that Henk had rights for the website. Actually, he said that he's had them for a while. I think you misunderstand... he's had them for the last ten months... And: Hi... sorry that I haven't been around the past few months, but University is keeping me quite busy. Anyway, Henk has all the data he needs to udate little-john.net, and so does Tinnus, but I guess they're pretty busy too... I'll try to get it done over the weekend, OK? [Makes confused eyes.]

Wait, what did you want Hans to do? I already updated the website with 1.0.1 and it sounds like Henk has the FTP data, so all's good. Unless Hans wants to fix Wordpress ;D

Oh, I have ftp access to the web site? Well, seems I must dig in some old emails... which would be easy if you have gmail. just type in Han's email in the search box.
