a) I think the code can be adapted to it. b) Not to put your own text, since "LJP" and the spinning things are a hard-coded ms3d model IIRC. c) Not for me. d) Not really, unless people have a good reason to want it

PalmOS has some screen savers but I've never understood the point as I'd rather save the battery instead of using it up on the screensaver.
Also LCD screens don't suffer from burn in which is the real point of PC screen savers...or it was now I have LCD screens for the desktops too.

You know, I thought that too, until I saw LCD screens at work that were left on all night at the login screen...and they suffer from some pretty bad burn-in. Maybe it's cuz they're crappy Dell LCDs, but they most certainly can suffer from burn-in.

I know constant motion will unstick pixels, but I've never seen a stuck pixel either. I have some pretty nice lcd displays though. I don't go cheap when I have to look at it all day.

I've seen it at home too, for instance if I leave my computer playing music with a media player that disables the screen saver for several days at a time (I know that's pretty extreme, but it's happened) certain spots on my screen will have some burn-in. It isn't permanent though (at least on my display) and after a few weeks it goes away.
I'm using a decent 19" Samsung LCD btw.

I'm using a Samsung as well, they make the best displays I think. My computers are all too busy to be stuck on any one screen for more than a couple of hours. I guess that's why we still have fancy PC screensavers. I still don't see a use for the palm though, my battery wouldn't last a few days to burn anything in.

Oh, I don't by any means think it's necessary for a PDA - more of a cool gimicky feature that would be entirely optional.
The only reason I've seen it happen on my Samsung (agree with you about the quality BTW) is because I have a baby sleeping in the same room as my PC and usually play music for him through Windows Media Player - which disables the screensaver (although I think that's an option you can turn off - I'm just lazy and haven't changed it). After leaving it doing the same thing all night, every night for a week, it starts to show. Like I said, though, it's not permanent - I started shutting off my monitor or making the visualization full-screen (pretty much a screen-saver) and it's gone away.

All my stuff's MP3 anyway. I can't stand proprietary DRM crap. My player of choice is usually WinAmp, actually, I just haven't installed it on that PC since the last time I reformatted.

Winamp is the original Windows MP3 player that started the whole fad The latest version isn't all that good, but there's an older version with LOTS of plugins that everyone swears by. Sounds like you are a contender for flyakiteosx and similar sites

haha I also use an old version of WinAMP. The plugins are the best.
I even have a shoutcast radio station with WinAMP that spits out most of my CD collection on random so I can listen to it anywhere with internet access. ;D
The new version isn't terrible, but it is bloody slow and bloated.

I'm beginning to think the general sub forum should be split into "tech stuff", "random", "developer stuff"

I'm beginning to think the general sub forum should be split into "tech stuff", "random", "developer stuff" LOL! edit: ... winamp was supersweet - but Em is right, latest few versions have stunk ... older is better/pluginsrock -- lately ive been fiddling with last.fm and have enjoyed countless hours of .flac tunes through foobar. i still use iTunes the majority of the time only because of the simplicity and file mgmt-ability/standardization, but long for .flac support for ripping/playing. edit: edit: re - lcd burn. ive seen a number of dells burnt in, but they were older models. i wonder how acer and other similar brands will fair down the road? palms could theoretically achieve the same, but since they are not on and do not typically last that long, its a non-issue. *sigh* we are a society of throw-aways! BUT, flying starfield is and will always be LJP for me. i say if its possible, implement it as an option -- it reminds me of the early days of LJP and of the nineties. and personally *i love it*
