I've encountered a problem while trying to play my Sega Genesis ROM of the game "Might and Magic II: Gates to Another World." using LJP 1.2 on my unlocked GSM Treo 680. The ROM loads up, but when I go to create characters, they never appear where they should. This screenshot illustrates the main menu: From there, I select Create Characters and create some characters: Now, what should happen is that a list of created characters should appear in the Inn, as in this screenshot: This works when I play the Genesis ROM on my PC using the Fusion emulator, no problem, so I know that it's not an issue with the ROM itself being corrupted. However, in LJP, the list of characters is never created, thus preventing me from actually starting to play the game. I have tried everything to get LJP to work with this particular ROM, including de-installing and re-installing LJP, deleting the ljp.ini file, etc., but nothing seems to work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If interested, I DO NOT have the rom file available in any way so that you can try to replicate the issue on your copy of LJP. Thanks.

You might try both the ASM and C cores, maybe it works in only one of them. Other than that, no clue, sorry. You might try checking if it works on Genesis Plus for PC. (same codebase) coder12: who said he has anything?

I doubt enabling the Z(x)80 emulation would help, but that's worth a try too. My suggestion is C core with Z80 emulation enabled and sound on.

No, you do not have the rom for people to download. We don't know what roms are, don't tell people that you will give them away. Just for a future reference. Haha, thanks for the tip. Anyways, I tried all of the suggestions which everyone suggested, but nothing seemed to work. So, my last-ditch attempt at a solution finally worked! I was, uh, able to somehow come into possession of another ROM of the same game, and even though the file sizes were exactly the same, the new ROM loaded up fine and I was able to finally create characters! I guess maybe the first ROM was slightly corrupt or something. Anyways, thanks for the help!

Just for future reference, sometimes ROMs get corrupted when you dump them from the cart. If this happens to you, just re-dump the ROM and try again... a few attempts should provide you with a ROM that, when run through a ROM checker like Good Tools, indicates that the ROM is known to be good and matches the correct checksum.
