I really hope you're not planning to play LJP while driving your car....

That's a problem with the hardware, not LJP.
Treos were designed to work with headphones or headsets, and automatically switch from mono to stereo when they detect a headset plugged in. Unfortunately when you use your 3.5 mm adapter for a line-in instead of headphones, there isn't enough resistance in the line and the Treo stays in Mono mode.
Really lame, and really stupid design, but that's what we've been dealt. There are supposedly adapters that have some resistance built-in to counter that problem, but they're not always proven to work. You may have some success just jiggling the adapter a lot and unplugging it and plugging it back in OVER AND OVER until it finally detects correctly. That's what I do...

I really hope you're not planning to play LJP while driving your car.... JAJA thats a good one. Is it True though? To the OP.... Where did you purchase the adapter? I think seidio sells an 2.5to 3.5 adapter that fixes this issue.

Now that I think about it, it would be REALLY cool to plug your haldheld in someone else's car stereo while you take a ride ;D

it would be even cooler to pipe it into the NavScreen where available.

lol, no LJP while im driving. I was just wanting the info for my listening experience. Im in my car a lot, and i wanted to use the phone as an mp3 player, so i bought the Ptunes software, and then i ran into the issue of mono sound only through the 2 right side speakers... so, not to get technical, but does anyone have any idea what resitance the changeover occurs? if its that simple, perhaps soldering in a resistor would do the trick. or maybe i can found the cord specifically for the treo, then one i got was given to me from a fellow employee from when he had a treo. but he onlyl used his on a 2 speaker system setup for demo purposes. *best buy employee*

With a bit of creativity and a voltmeter you could find out easily enough - just create a circuit with headphones and one without, and compare the difference. That should give you the required resistance required for a straight line-in.
