Greetings.
I was enjoying little john palm earlier today and realized... heck, a few people really helped me get it working on my 755p and someone developed the great software I play on the subway every day. I need to help out like I promised I would.
I'm still running ljp 1.1 but here are some things I have learned to do to keep crashing to a minimum:
1. turn off phone software before going under a tunnel/out of service:
it seems that when the phone hunts for service my chances of getting back to the browser are very slim, usually resulting in a total freeze requiring me to take the battery out.
2. if planning to play muted, turn ringer off BEFORE starting a game: if i switch the ringer off while playing i don't get the verification (vibration) from the phone until some time later, usually resulting in the treo freezing.
All in all I am hugely enjoying the software still and am very grateful for it, and will make a donation shortly when I can afford it. It runs pretty great considering I haven't been running UDMH or overclocking software at all... I just play with the sound emulation off in the more demanding systems. This will be remedied on my end eventually.
The only small issues I still have are things like when I try need to press two buttons and a direction in a game at a time (to jump to one side or to jump, move, and attack) the game will prompt me to save or load, depending on which direction I'm jumping.
I recently started working at a shop that sells second hand cell phones (among other things) and have been using LJP and other homebrew software as a selling point on Palm based phones... as well as making my fellow gamer coworkers very jealous of the emulation available on treos/centros.
Excited for the next release!
