Tinnus has a test version for the Zire31 that you should try and then give him some feedback. Here's the address tinnus.gp32z.com/

Here's a version of ljp that works on my Zire 31, for the GB and GG modules: www.make-believe.org/downloads/ljpz31.html(Disclaimer: this is not exactly perfect, and I can't promise to update it for future versions of LJP. But hey, it works, which is a rare-enough pleasure for Zire 31-owning emulation fans ;)

Must be something to do with Zire 31 audio... did you try other emulators, games, etc? Does the sound in them work right?

I'd advise you to wait for next release then, I should get these changes from the author and make a low-res version of LJP. The reason for you to wait is that it might be some other stuff causing the crashes because 0.9.2T is rather buggy.

maurizio86: GBC audio works fine for me for all of the 10 or so roms I've tried. Tinnus is probably right about the exit crash being due to the version of the source I was working with. There's nothing idiosyncratic about zire 31 audio to my knowledge. Note that some ROMs (Zelda?) seem to have particular audio requirements on LJP in general -- see other threads in this forum for details. Tinnus: Yeah, give me a couple of days to do the whole thing more robustly -- mostly I just divided a whole bunch of magic numbers by 2 My view would be to use the guessScreenDimensions function to make this more intelligent -- so that you won't have to make separate low-res releases. Dunno how reliable that function is though.

By the way, maurizio, if you're not using UDMH that's likely to be the cause of your crashes. I have about 12mb RAM free on my device, all of which UDMH makes available as runtime dynamic memory.

Given the age of this thread, it's almost guaranteed to be fixed -- after all, LJP was still in very early development 2 years ago. LJZ was the main emulator.

how did they overcome the zire's two button? is it possible to get a nice gamepad for the zire?

That hasn't been overcome -- you have 4 on-screen buttons plus the two hard buttons. The only supported gamepad at this time is the bluetooth gamepad -- and to use that you'd need an SDIO bluetooth adapter, which had better also have storage space on it, otherwise you won't be able to load your ROMs.

the IR keyboard might be an option

ok LJP works on zire 31.
you can use the left right down up buttons and the two hard buttons on the zire 31. and you can also interchange them with the onscreen buttons.
am I correct?
(also is the cable that comes with the zire 31 package USB 1.0 compatible?)

Yes, yes, yes, correct, and depends what you mean The Palm is a USB client, not a USB host. You can't plug USB devices into a Palm. You can only plug a Palm into a USB host, such as a PC. And yes, you might be able to use the Palm universal wireless keyboard with a Zire31. BTW Henk: I forgot to add it to Mantis, but I posted a bug about RC8 on here somewhere: my keyboard is now recognized on the config screen (ULTRA sensitive - pressing key for longer than a millisecond will program 4 or more functions with the same key), but it still doesn't work in-game.

I mean all keys work but you can swap them around. btw, I was referring to when connecting with the PC. does the palm require usb 2.0 compatiblity to function in a hotsync?

thank you. does it have to be the original that came with the zire or can I just use my "mini usb to usb" digital camera cable?

You can use any MiniUSB-USB cable provided the Zire 31 has a MiniUSB jack. It should come with a cable though...

If it is anything like the T|E, the cable is not a true mini-USB cable, but a Palm variant. If it fits though, it'll work.

|
|
Post by Tinnus on Aug 3, 2007 23:41:44 GMT 1
If fitting it works, what's the difference then?
I'm rather curious since I think I remember using the T|E cable with other devices and vice versa.

Strange; I just re-examined my cables and the USB-B adapter looks identical to standard mini-USB. I think the only problem might be that the mounting area thickness on my other cables was not compatible with my T|E (USB-B end wouldn't fully insert). So, if you can fully insert the miniUSB cable in your device, you're good to go.
