Very exciting news. Let me just say that this was the first site I visited after hearing the news about a Palm OS emulator for the Pre.
I'll be crossing my fingers that LJP could work in conjunction with the emulator.
Now... Only if they put a D-PAD on the Pre! (though i'm sure the keyboard will work just fine for gaming)

Based on this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGGfWj59N4YIt looks like LJP may be compatible with the Pre. It seems the emulator recognizes the internal memory of the pre as an SD card, so theoretically you should be able to place all the required files in a similar directory as the palm and hopefully it'll work. However, not having the D-Pad will suck. Also on a side note, according to Metaview's blog it looks like he registered for Berlin's Pre Dev Camp. metaviewsoft.de/wordpress/?p=232so hopefully he'll get the latest info for the Pre and if we're lucky he'll be able to implement LJP on the Pre.

The emulator looks quite good, hopefully it can handle LJP as it is now. If not, there is no way a third party could write an emulator that good (claims to be twice the speed of the treo 700p) using only javascript, html, and css, meaning there must be Native code support which Palm has yet to announce, hopefully. Also ATTENTION TINNUS, METAVIEW AND ALL OTHER LJP DEVELOPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you may/not already know this but Palm is granting some people early access to the SDK, first come first serve, palmwebos.org/2009/04/01/palm-mojo-sdk-early-access-program/

"Q: Can Classic run the native ARM code (a.k.a. ARMlets, PNOlets…)? A: Yes, it can. PalmOS applications containing both 68K and ARM code will work in Classic without modifications. Q: Is direct screen access supported in Classic? A: Yes, PalmOS applications can directly access the screen memory for faster rendering, just as they do on real PalmOS devices." I'm not sure what the requirements for running LJP as it is now through Classic are but it seems Classic will do a better job than Styletap did so according to the above quotes and the rest of the FAQ here motionapps.blogspot.com/2009/04/classic-faq.html but is it possible LJP will work on Classic?

Buying a Pre will basically be decided by whether LJP will run on it or not. So I am really praying for a yes!!

Apparently emulation may not be possible in classic mode... sad if this is true. "Classic is most interesting because it shows the possibilities of what the Pre can do -- though it's obviously one of the few here that isn't built using just the web-standard tools which Palm is pushing on developers. To be honest, we had hoped to fire up the app and run Dream Engine, a Turbografx-16 emulator that was a favorite of ours back in the Treo days. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the app has access to any file systems -- we couldn't get the program to recognize our ROMs folder, no matter what configuration we tried. Attempting to peek at the directory structure with FileZ also proved futile. We're hoping that Palm will open this up a bit more... but we're also hoping they'll open the platform a bit more too." I'm still waiting for the Pre to come to Canada but according to www.appscout.com/2009/06/palm_pre_classic_application_c.php LJP works but the PDBs need to be moved. However I'm not sure how well you can play it using the small buttons of the keyboard since there isn't any other hard buttons for games. Also great news for developers, if you are not satisfied with the new web app only mojo SDK, you can use the old one and use native code since Classic has more support for different languages then Web OS does! From the motionapps web site "ARM-native Code * Full support for native ARM applications * ARM code is not emulated, but executed directly on hardware resulting in superior performance" So does this mean that if LJX can't be ported to the Pre under Web OS, it will still work under classic and is this enough motivation to finish it?

Bummer, I can't get it to work in Classic on the Pre.
It give me the error, something like: 02:/PALM/Programs/LJP/ljp-mikmod.zem not found.
Classic uses a virtual SD Card that I can't seem to access.
I've also tried creating the directory path in the directory where you place the PRCs for Classic.
Any thoughts?

Interesting; If it works i'll consider saving up some money for the Pre to upgrade from my Treo 650. I loved my TX (before i had to return it on ext warranty and replace with a PSP), and had several problems before that with the HDD of the Lifedrive. My only problem with the Treo is that the preamp for the headphone jack is broken, hence no sound but the little speaker . I love palm but they need to pull their nuts together...everyone is tapping into the iPhone thing

I submitted a feature request ticket to MotionApps asking if key mapping will be included in the next version of Classic. Here's the response:
"Classic v1.1 will bring support for Palm OS applications to be able to read any key's state which is mostly the feature used by games."
Just a matter of time now...

Have you seen Doom on Pre? In the same thread someone got it working. Same problem with hardware keys though... Promising nonetheless!

Does the pre have bluetooth? If so can you connect to the wiimote using classic, or even better through LJP through Classic since this would be much better than playing with the pre's keyboard. If not, would it be possible for someone to do this?

Unfortunately, they disabled bluetooth communications from within Classic. :/
Phone keyboards like the Pre's would be great if someone could invent a silicone sleeve to slide over the keyboard that would include raised controls, similar to those on any gamepad.

Good News! If LJX is ever completed, it may be able to run on the Pre without Classic. www.precentral.net/hardware-accelerated-doom-card-yes-its-trueSDL was added to the Pre in the latest update. I also remember Tinnus making a P.O.C. for LJX with only the NES emulator working a while back. I also got a Pre for Christmas and would be willing to test some of this stuff out however I have not received this update yet since it is currently only out for Sprint users in the states.
