from what i have seen in the search function this must be the 100th message about it. yeah, i'm talking about ljp and snes emulation the first time i got the "out of memory" message from the emulator i tried google and found about UDMH. so i installed it and now ljp reports 21936K, but i still get the "out of memory" message i tried just enabling UDMH, and adding an specific configuration for ljp so that the memory is cleared before the emulator starts, but it doesn't work anyway i have a tungsten e2 and ljp, udmh and the roms are installed in the sd card anyone knows what can i do? anybody have a t|e2 and can run snes games? thanks for your help

T|E2 uses NVFS... not too sure about whether UDMh would work right, try with a smaller ROM maybe?

it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the size of the rom i even tried a couple of demos with 3 or 4kbs! but i get the "out of memory" message anyway

so does this mean that no t|e2 owner can play snes games on his palm? just because of this nvfs stuff? what does using a non volatile file system have to do with not having enough memory? and, does anybody know about a similar program to udmh which can work on a t|e2? thanks

It's because UDMH doesn't affect flash memory AFAIK. The other models without NVFS have 'real' RAM all over the place to be used while the T|E2 has some 10MB of 'cache' RAM which could be used.
But T5 users report to run SNES, so don't take my word as a law here.

so there's no way to be able to play with a t|e2? but surely nvfs is the future, isn't it? how come nobody have done something about it?
do you know about any other programs that can do this with nvfs? or is there any plans to implement it in udmh?

I don't think it's technically possible. UDMH (and the programs) needs 'real' RAM. But then again, T5 has NVFS and there are people who have ran SNES on T5's. They should answer you better than me.

I Play Chron Trigger every day on my T T5 with UDMH enabled... UDMH rises the mem avaliable as usual and everthings goes right. Well just a bit of crashs here and there... but memory is OK. Tinnus. Are You from Brasil I am from São Paulo, I have acess to a T5, a Z72 and a TC. If you have any specific test to run just ask me. Congratulations 4 U all

Just thought I would add in my own notes here, I also have a tungsten e|2 and have been unable to run any snes game, ever. Using UDMH does seem pointless, and in fact when I set it and then try and run a game, it crashes the palm and I have to reset. The other modules that I have tested (nes/gb) work absolutely great though.

I have a T|E2 and LJP 1.0 RC by Tinnus I tested SMS (runs fine), NES (fine), GB(fine) even without UDMH and LightSpeed. GEN and SNES runs only with UDMH.
GEN emultaion runs fine. The question here is that is VERY slow. T|E2 has an Intel 200mhz processor. I think that GEN emulation needs a lot of optimizations. Using light speed (over at 266mhz) and a lot of frame skip the emulation is still slow (even with sound disabled). Besides, looks like there is no difference in speed emulation betwen sound on or off) in Genesis emultaion.
SNES emulation i tested with Super Mario World (without sound). Runs faster than GEN, but not at adequate framerate. If the sound is enabled, i got a crash some seconds after the game starts. I tested Zelda3 too (this game freezes on presentation). FF3 and Chrono Trigger does not load (even with sound disabled). My UDMH 3.0 indicates +-29MB free heap memory (i installed almost everything on my SD card).
So my point here is: emulation on T|E2 works nice and will get better. Just needs GEN and SNES modules improvement. Tinnus said in LJP website that SNES module was changed a lot for optimizations and it will be on next LJP release. He said he has some ideas to optimize the usage of Heap Memory (aimed for another version). I think its all good news. And all i ask )better: BEG) for Yoyo and Tinnus is to not forget to optimize Genesis module. Phantasy Star 4 deserve it. And of course: Genesis rulez (ou Mega Drive comanda)!
Sorry my bad english for now. I should be working now... :-) Thanks god my boss isnt here... LOL

Something's odd. People report they're using RC1, but RC1 officially was not released so they must be using the test version for low-res users (which is labbeled RC1 because it was released when RC1 was being worked on; it actually has some RC1 features...) Just to note that the "real" RC1 will be released in a day or two. For version updates, please check the (new) official website at tinnus.gp32z.com/ljp

Thanks for the input rcamurca, nice to see that someone with an T|E2 is able to run snes. I was using 0.9.2T, I will wait until RC1 is released, thanks for the updates Tinnus, nice to see a devel that actually keeps the fans up to date on what is going on.
