How to properly use onscreen BL and BR buttons???

I have tried to get both the BL and BR button so that i can tap in Sabin's Mantra in FF3 (well addiction i guess) and it is really IRRITATING coz the onscreen OSD is alway triggered instead.....

Can someone explain how we can use the buttons so that we dun trigger to OSD???

Press VERY near the corner.

I'll increase the virtual button size by 1/2, I also find it too small.
