Hi all !
LJP runs my Zelada (original gameboy) rom very well, but my gbc rom of zelda : oracle of seasons is running very slow. I tried to add some framskipping and it helps the speed a little (not much), but it does not look very good. I heard about a "turbo mode", so I assigned a key to it, but I don't see any difference. Am I doing something wrong ?
Thanks !

If you do a search on the forums I think you will find one on the GBC Zelda games. May be worth waiting to see what their like in the new version.

FWIW, after reading your post, I tried zelda oracle of seasons and it seemed to stall out before even getting to the intro screen.

Oh yeah, forgot about the sound thing. Actually, after that it seems to run fine- maybe slightly slow, but certaintly playable.

It is part of a group of games that work about 2/3 of the speed of the majority; I'm not sure why... they're probably doing some stuff the others don't, so I'm afraid there's nothing wrong and the only solution would be optimization.

It seems to run just fine (as in >25 FPS) with auto frame skip when you're on a screen without other characters or monsters, but it gets exponentially worse as you add monsters and/or characters. One or two aren't a problem, but things slow down to a crawl when there are more like 6. The scenery doesn't seem to effect the framerate.
I know nothing about how an emulator works, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the drawing aspect. It seems to me like it's taking a huge amount of time to traverse a linked list or something.
I'm pretty much talking out of my ass here, but I hope it'll help to some extent.

The Colour Zelda games don't run well for me either. The GBC module has tons of room for improvment, which can be seen by comparing to Firestorm etc.

Too bad that those games are parto f this "exception list". I don't have a lot of game boys games, and those are among my favorites one. Maybe I should just play to good old Zelda again...

It's the newest of the GBC games which I find are worst. Links Awakening DX is slow for the intro but plays fine when you get going. The Zelda Oracle games however, are pretty much unplayable once 2 or more monsters are on the screen. Pokemon Puzzle League also goes at a horribly slow speed. But those are the only games I own which are like that. Most of my games were bought in the good ol' days
