I have a question. I have everything working great on my Treo 650 I use UDMH and have the memory for that set to 60000k Note: I have switched between 10000 and 60000 to find whats best.
The game I play is Chrono Trigger. It is the only game on my palm so far. The problem is it seems to run choppy at times. My FPS is 45-55 when it is running choppy.
Example (For thoes of us who have played chrono) . When you first start chrono trigger and you enter the Fair, as your running around the environment it seems to get real laggy, but the FPS is still 50ish or so. I dont seem to get it. I have played around with the config and I get the same performance if not worse when I adjust things. (Even frame skip)
Is this normal? Or is there any way I can recieve smooth performance without the sound/video lag.

Well, your CPU doesn't have endless speed. You could always try overclocking though.
Also, the target FPS (smooth) is 60. Although 45-55 should not look choppy, unless the FPS fluctuates a lot, which usually has something to do with frameskipping.
Can you post all your SNES settings here so we can take a look and give suggestions?

Sure thing, but please note I have changed all these settings all around and have no better affects.
Also its not that the sound studders it just slows down when it hits heavy areas, and as for video it just studders.
These are my CURRENT settings. Video: Smoothing Off Display Size x1 Frame skip Auto (Have tried all settings with this. Fast Sprites Off Transparency Off Renderer Fast
Other: CPU Core ASM (I have tried C but it makes it worse so it seems) All boxes below that are unchecked
Please let me know if you need anything more, also the FPS never has fallin below 45 i dont believe. And when my character stops in jaggy areas the sound speed and stuff goes back to normal.

Assuming Lightspeed works with the Treo 650 (which I think it does), you can use it to see what's its max and recommended speed; Lightspeed blocks you and gets red with too high values (which still work but are unstable). get the trial and you'll see.
You can use this to get the speed, or purchase Lightspeed at once instead of Warpspeed.

So you think it is just a performance issue? What about everyone else? Does anyone else have an issue with the Treo 650 and SNES games?
(Ill give lightspeed a shot and see what I come up with.

I have tried Lightspeed and it says Palm OS not suported. When I am on the website for Lightspeed it seems to only support the Treo 600 but not the 650 I guess it just doesnt work for the Treo 650 And I have also heard some bad things about Warpspeed and th Treo 650.

PXA Clocker is free and works with the 650. Another useful program is speedy. It lets you test the speed of the CPU.

Yes I just now tried PXA CLocker and recieved much better results than warpspeed. I OC my LJP Program to 350MHz and that seemed to make an improvement but not quite where I wanted it to be. So I jumped it up one more to 390MHz and it was working MUCh better. HOWEVER I do not want to damage my palm so befor I go on using this setting I want to make sure this is a good number.
What do you guys think is 390MHz to high to be running or could I go higher?

As long as your device runs normally, without the screen going crazy and the OS locking every 5 seconds, the speed you're using is harmless.

By the way, your settings:
Video: Smoothing Off - keep Display Size x1 - keep or use 1.25x, it's not much slower Frame skip Auto - I don't like Auto. It's too choppy for me. See how it goes with 1 or 2. Fast Sprites Off - turn on Transparency Off - keep off, turn on only when you can't see stuff on the screen Renderer Fast - keep fast
Also I would turn on hacks #1 and #4 (can't remember off the top of my head which these are)
Other: CPU Core ASM (I have tried C but it makes it worse so it seems) - keep ASM
And for sound: turn it off to get a HUGE speed boost. If you want it on, use 22khz. 44khz is slower and usually you don't notice the difference, while 11khz is terrible (although faster)
