I've been using LJP for a couple of months and it much better than any other Palm emulator I've used. There are a few minor gripes that I have with it.
I'm using a treo 650, which has a directional pad with a button in the center of it. If I have keys setup on the two right buttons, and the two left buttons and use the directional pad as a direction pad, if I press down the center button, a direction and one of the buttons on the right at the same time, it will be interpreted as one of the buttons on the left. For example if the center button, right on the direction pad, and the mail button is pressed it is interpretted has the green phone button.
I know that this is not specifically an LJP problem, as the key combo weirdness is the same anywhere in the palmOS, but maybe getting the home and menu buttons to be usable or maybe preventing this from happening in some way is doable.
On the NES emulator, to prevent this, I have the start and select button on the screen, Then I set the B button to the envelope button. A is on the red phone. This works ok, but maybe theres still the issue of the key combo being interpretted as a key that has no assignment. If I could assign B to multiple buttons, it would be an improvement. Then I could assign B to both the Green phone and the envelope, and when the key combo happened, B would still be B, but then the left button I was holding down wouldnt be read. . . . you get the idea.
The other which has been brought up before is that I can't answer an incoming call in LJP, but I can answer one in Kalemsoft NESem. It has been brought up before that system events would have to be monitored in order to do this, which would slow down the emulator, however NESem handles calls pretty well (though it might kick you out of the game, don't remember right now. . .). I can answer them without the phone crashing at least.
Also Background mp3s will play during ljp, however it won't advance to the next song on the playlist unless you bring up the menu. I've sort of (not really because theres no more playlist) gotten around that by using the streaming internet radio feature on PocketTunes (which works pretty well on low bitrate stations btw). Again NESem doesn't have this problem either.
I'm not saying that NESem is something special, rather the opposite; if they did it, Tinnus or Yoyofr should be able to figure something out (if they want to).
The control issue is really annoying, but its not like any of these palms were design with gamepad like input in mind. . . but being able to answer calls would be nice ;D
Otherwise the emulator is awesome, emulates the sound on the SNES and NES perfectly, is quick enough to play SNES with a bit of an overclock etc.
Nice Job.
