You can get UnCache for $5.95 at PalmPowerupsPS: With UDMH, it works even better! As an update: CleanStart replaces UnCache and is available in the 1src.com freeware section.

Hi! So I have no idea what a lifedrive is. If it helps, just know that I have a palm centro that was got in the middle of summer '08. BUT, I do know that a lot of "big" SNES games (EarthBound, ShadowRun, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Kart, Boogerman) do not work for my LJP, yet they work on zsnesw (My SNES emulator for PC). So should I still be following this guide?

Hi! So I have no idea what a lifedrive is. LifedriveCheck the game compatibility guide. If it works for someone else but doesn't work for you, it's likely you have a corrupt ROM. ZSNES isn't as picky about the ROMS as LJP is, so just because you can run it on your PC doesn't mean your ROM is good.

Hey,
I just began using LJP yesterday and it is amazing (Running on a Palm TX). I am currently running only the emulator and the trial version of UDMH. I am now trying to follow this thread to see how well I can get Genesis (and SNES) work while I have the trail going (to see whether or not to buy it).
I was initially having trouble downloading MemUnfragment. The link in the thread does not work. It is still at palmpowerups.com though (under freeware), however, when I click on it, it instantaneously finishes; not actually downloading the whole file. Luckily I saw a later post about the CleanStart freeware substitute, so I am good there (if I am not mistaken).
My other issue lies with the general instructions of steps 5-6.
In Step 5, what exactly am I going to do once I open up CleanStart?
In Step 6, I am confused between auto-clear and using the desk accessory. I have downloaded the desk accessory, but how am I going to use that to do...what? To restate, What am I going to do with that and how? Also, is Dbcache a program that is either on or off like UDMH?
I do not think I left any inquiries out but I am sure something will come up.
Thanks.

Think of CleanStart as a startup manager; you use it to create startup sets -- the one that is used for LJP should include UDMH, WarpSpeed (or another overclocker like PXA), and the minimum set of other add-ons you can't do without. Then, you go to your startup set screen, select that set and press the "reset once with set" button at the top. To restore full functionality to your palm, press the reset button in LJP when you're done there, and the palm will restart and load all the other goodies you have selected in your default CleanStart set.
In step 6, you really don't need step 6 if you use my instructions in step 5 (restart immediately before and after using LJP). Also, recent versions of LJP contain a decent cache flushing routine, so this step isn't really needed anymore. If you still DO want to do it, I'd highly recommend using Alex Pruss' flushing DA instead of DBCache Tool; it is WAY more stable. You can grab a copy on 1src.com in the freeware section. All this app does is forces the cache to be flushed; a full flush on a fragmented DBCache takes way more time than a reset with a minimal CleanStart profile though, so I never do it that way anymore.

Hey, Thanks for the info. I have another question. What is warpspeedor PXA and where can I get then them?
Also, is there a free alternative to UDMH?

In answer to your other question (beyond Google is your friend), WarpSpeed, LightSpeed and PXA Clocker are all overclocking utilities. The CPU in your TX is actually a 624MHz xScale processor that has been underclocked to 312MHz. Due to hardware design of the rest of the device, you likely won't be able to run the processer faster than 520MHz reliably, but that's still a HUGE speedup. It uses more battery power, but in programs like LJP, it results in smoother gameplay and fewer dropped image frames (you can actually run most SNES games at 60FPS on frameskip 3, which is impressive). I personally use WarpSpeed to UNDERclock to around 190MHz for most of my apps, which boosts my battery life; I regularly get 8 hours of continual use out of my TX, unless I'm using LJP or watching a movie where I ramp up the clock speed for a better entertainment experience.
