The "stupid menu" should only appear when you tap the screen. No exceptions. Either there's a serious bug there, or you're doing something stupid with the key config

Yeah maybe you're just pressing the buttons too hard and the case itself is pushing the screen. There is no way the menu would show except tapping the screen.

Just curious, but could using a pre-2.0 LD and pressing multiple buttons cause something strange to happen? Or would it only register the first keypress and that would be that?
Please report what devices you're having these probs on. That way it'll be easier to pinpoint, especially if it is a hardware issue.

Well, the problem is definately not in LJP then, because I have a T|E myself and never had this kind of problem You tried to reinstall from scratch? Reinstall and play WITHOUT changing any controls. Then CHANGE the controls around and see if it makes a difference.

This is a different case, in which two or more button presses trigger a differente button--while in his case it triggers a screen press.

would it be possible to alter the hard buttons themselves in order to get a better interface similar to snes itself and then maybe even add buttons for r, l, start and select?

Probably not, you'd need a LOT of HW hacking.

I've been contemplating a little hardware modification myself. Starting with a T3, imo would be the best palm gaming device due to large heap memory and no nvfs.
First I'd pull off the top section with the buttons. Then use it's size for a template to make a new buttun setup similar to a snes gamepad. Then comes the attachment, soldering, etc.
Possible, or just a daydream? I don't know, but I may be digging for parts to use...
btw - are the extra buttons some palms have, such as voice recorder and jogwheel, assignable as controls in LJP?

Seems to me LJP will take any input that has a designated keycode... it takes my 5-way L and R even though they aren't specifically coded into the app.

I don't know about the jogwheel but the voice recorder button works. I use it as the L button for Snes and for turbo on the Nes.

if you ever make a button modification i would love to hear about it. i really want to modify my zire 72 but i have a problem: i don't know anything about the inside of a palm. how quickly could i pick it up and find out how to fix problems or modify a palm? i am kind of thinking it would be easy but it is obviously harder than i think it will be. as for modifications to my zire 72 i would also like the increase the screen size even though that's probably impossible and i'll just have to dish out the money for a tx or something.
