I can't find or figure out what screen mode does. I am wondering because when playing games on my Zire31, because it is low-res, I can't read the text. Is there any way to enlarge or zoom-in temporarily to read this? Thanks

Nope, and screen mode is unly useful for hi-res devices since it used to scale the image UP. Anyway, some people complained about this a little and in the next versions, there will be a 16x16 pixel chop at the borders for 256 wide displays in low-res mode, so for example NES, instead of 256x224 will be 240x208 (scaled down to 160x138). This should make text more readable. In Genesis though, I don know if such a thing would help much since it's a direct 1/2 downscale. Actually I think making the scaling factor fractional would result in the image quality being worse.

Thanks for the replies Tinnus. I really like LJP. (P.S. how is your Windows XP coming along? I am anxiously awaiting the next version. You just about have me cutting backflips.)

Hey tinnus, since you already have your os down, why not upgrade to Vista? You would get a headstart with it but still be able to use all the features of XP.

One question: does CodeWarrior even run properly under Vista? I thought Vista was fully .Net, and had scrapped all the old DOS and Win32 APIs....

I think it should work. It is reverse compatible with every other windows made, and is a build off of XP, so I should think it would work, but I'm no expert, really

I thought the idea behind Vista was that it broke DOS through Win9x compatibility, and only ran stuff designed to work on .Net or later? Did that change somewhere along the design path?

Well, to be fair, it runs anything Win32 that is also part of the .net toolset; it's only if you use the older calls that the program might not work.
I've also heard that the move from XP to Vista is more difficult than the move from XP to Linux/WINE....

Guys, like I said, I know nothing about all these api's and stuff, but if Vista can run Windows 95 apps, then it should be able to run anything XP. I will look and see here windowsvista.com
