Hi i was wondering if anybody knows what type of code is used to make games for these old systems and if anybody knows how to compile it as a rom file. (sorry if this sounds stupid but i wanna start making homebrew games that i can play on my palm)

You're better off trying Palm OS homebrew rather than SNES or Genesis then Most of the coding for these systems was done in pure assembly, which is a little ugly to start with. Not to mention each one had its own... Oh yeah, and there's always Zot!. www.codejedi.com/zot/

If you want to get into NES coding, there's a university where NES coding is taught as a course -- and all the materials have been made open to the public. I could probably get you in touch with some of the people who have taken the class, and the prof has his own NES development web page.
