Palm: Zire 72 Hacks: UDMH Launcher: None
Lots of positive, but heres the negative, for fixing purposes:
1. Cannot turn off palm durning emulation anymore. Can you put that back? please? 2. Home will no longer exit palm
Genisis: Working very well
Snes (C core and ASM core) 1. Fatal Exception when accesing menu, In most cases, but not all the time. Errors are consistant though, If you tap the menu in a certain spot, it will give you a error everytime there, or it will always work there. When it does work, the menu does save and load correctly and change settings unlike before.
Snes (asm core) 1. Black screen when trying to play roms that worked in C

Clie TJ37 8 megs heap Zlauncher
Genesis so far works fine on Sonic the Hedgehog and on Phantasy Star 2
Great speed on genesis. Haven't tried other game types.
I think the poster above maybe forgot to copy over either the module or the new ljp.prc.

Yes you can, you just have to go to the OSD first. Then you can exit with the home button or turn the palm off. This was changed per request of other users. Personally I like it better, no accidental turn-offs.
TJ37: Main screen turn on. How are you gentlemen? ... okay I'm really not going to say the next line... too overdone.
Everything works great. Thanks for fixing the save / load screen problem. It works great, and in every module.
Is it just me or is SNES slightly faster? Could be my eyes playn tricks. Setting the frameskip to auto seems to make things not skip as bad as they used to.
The Genesis works great. The sound was set to 100, but when I went into a game it was set to 23 or so? No big deal, just took a sec to figure out why I couldn't hear any sound. It works in-game. I suppose it's just not getting the setting from the GUI?
Setting the Genesis module to auto frameskip makes it go super fast constantly. I only mention that because auto on other modules seem to run normal speed (except SNES of course since TJ can't process fast enough). Easily fixed, just set it 0 frameskip in the options. It works normal speed with that setting. Of course this is with sound off.
Sound on: 0 frameskip -> 15fps auto frameskip -> 49-60fps
Sound off: 0 frameskip -> 60fps auto frameskip -> 35fps
My X-Men ROM on Genesis doesn't emiulate sound properly. Just a long tone after some beginning sounds... no big deal though. I've only been able to try a few ROMs so far. Main thing, is that it does not cause any errors or lock-ups.
That's about it. Nothing of big concern.
I noticed that the NES module was smaller in file size, but I haven't noticed any problems or issues from whatever was changed.
Doesn't seem like there are any major concerns for TJ37s anymore. I'm just going to post in these beta threads to keep things simple.
Thanks for the update. ;D

Yes, I recently firguered this out, but I am having some troubles goign to the OSD (other way worked well for me)
Menu Problems: -It works around 50% of the time. Like in Zelda, it will always work. Other games like Mario cart, it will only work at the title screen. Mario RPG will work at the title screen, first starting area, freezes at world map and next area. (freezes as being "fatal exception" in need of soft reset) -It seems to me these are locations during very high CPU usage, that might have something to do with it.
(running C core, zire 72, 20mb ram with UDMH)

Enabling sound on the Clie TG50 still causing Fatal Exception upon rom launch. I assume same problem for Clie NX/NZ models. Can this be fixed yoyofr? (Was working until Beta 5)

[Clie/sound issue] I'm aware of this. On Clie, you need a patch to have sound running properly, but with my new way of doing native arm api calls instead of going through pace, I believe the patch is override. So I've to implement the standard arm -> 68k -> palmos calls in order to have it running properly. Will be done soon. [Zire 72 snes asm] Don't do why it doesn't work, but on fast device the C cpu core provides about the same result in speed. So I think it's just a matter of default parameter set to C cpu core on this device. [GUI crashing in snes module] I'll dig a bit there since I've no clue... [Poweroff during emu] I'll think to add it back, but right now it's better to have it only in the GUI because 1/ you can use it as an extra button in the emu 2/ in the final version, there's no reason for the GUI to crash.

Palm : T|T5 Launcher : None Hack : UDMH
Modules
SNES -Asm : Works well until i try to open the gui, then crash - C : Works well until i try to open the gui, then crash
Error message : Application 'LJP' has requested a 409624-byte non-movable chunk from the dynamic heap, and the system is unable to satisfy that request.
GENESIS Works well with 1Mo less game, Mortal combat 2 & 3 or "wolverine adamantium rage" only show a black screen and never run.

Tungsten T3 No memory hacks 27 internal mem free No launcher
Everything works great except for the sound in Genesis module, no matter what I do I can't get sound for most games I've tested. I say most games because Sonic the Hedgehog 1 works with sound perfectly ( great speed on all games ). That is a smaller file than the rest if that is significant. Tried all combinations but to no avail.
Also the Snes module seems slower than the previous version of LJP a good 8 or 10 fps.
As for the power button being an extra game button great idea.
Apart from those few niggles seems pretty perfect to me, ASM a bit slow tho ( but working at least ) but I'm sure you'll figure that one out.
Keep up the good work dude

I dont think you tried all settings => to have sound on genesis, most games need the zx80 emulation on. Sonic 1 (as some older games) is an exception, zx80 isn't used to produce sound (it's the 2nd chipset in genesis, dedicated to sound generation). However having zx80 emulation 'on' is a major slowdown for the emulation process, but it is still needed for some games (adams family, thunderforce, ....)
So if your genesis rom has no sound/stay on black screen, try to enable zx80 emulation.
Regarding the T|T5 crash, it seems UDMH raises an error when not enough contiguous free memory is available, which lead to ljp crashing. That's sad, since LJP can handle such case, by not enabling some locking/drawing code. So perhaps ask the UDMH author to change his code for it to only return a null pointer....

This new version is a real pleasure SNES is now wonderfull !!! The few bug, I was encourturned, was fix. and ASM work fine !!!! I gain around 8fps with asm ;p the bad thing is : I cannot load the genesis module. (It said : The emulation module to run this game is not present.) I don't know Why. Two elements may help : - the gui version did not change - le module is named LJP-GEN.LEM, the other module are not capitalized... btw this is the best Palm program I ever found !!!! thanks a lot for this PS : i'm using a T3

OK completly re-install ljp and now I get Genesis module working. Genesis ASM is working on my T3, and I get around 58fps, wow good job Savegarde system is working, so now I can remove GuineaPig from my system (sorry Skeezix). The last issue I know is that the savegarde date is allwais the same for SNES (genesis module don't have this problem). Anyway this is a realy minor bug

When I was testing ROMs I tried the zx80 emulation and it did not seem to change the sound output for my XMen game. Still just a long tone. Although, since it does have some sound at first, and some sparatic sounds, leads me to believe that it may just be that the TJ can't handle it on some ROMs.

Wow, Genesis on my T|E... so beautiful ;D Two notes about zx80: 1) I think the FM channel is not yet implemented, right? 2) In some games, sound plays normal for some time then freezes (same tone playing forever, even if you try changing the music for games that support it, for example columns). Sound works perfectly for games that don't use zx80 ;D List of games I've found don't need zx80 emulation to play sound (and hence play much faster ) - Sonic the Hedgehog - Streets of Rage - Probably all the 'old' ones like Golden Axe and such. I've not tried too many games yet.

OK, i will have UDMH return NULL of failed requests, now that I see that LJP CAN handle that, I do not know what I was thinking when I decided to fatal instead of return null. Will fix in 1.9

Beta .7 works great on my T3
I NES works great, GB works great. It seemed that the 'button push' slow down was less on this version.
SNES works well in ASM and C. However I can only get Super Mario RPG to work in C mode, in ASM I just get a black screen. Also while playing the game I get a fatal error when Mario Levels up. Has anyone else gotten this?
Genesis works well - On Super Street Fighter, the game worked well for the intro, then It said "lock" on the screen and asked if I wanted to exit the game. Is this a new feature? It works prety well.
I had a question about the TT however, I tested the latest version on my brothers TT and neither the Genesis or the SNES worked. He has 10.5 Meg free and is using UDMH. The strange thing is GuineaPig works on the TT. Isn't the genesis portion similar to GuineaPig?

It only seems to be with bigger games though (FFII). I guess I'll have to put UDMH on to see if that fixes my problem. A very minor problem I've noticed is when you bring up the menus in the Snes module if you click a button or slider bar it draws black lines on the screen (its like it is refreshing the screen or something.)

LJP is such a wonderful proggy... well done !
On my ZIRE 72, free RAM=11.8 MB the Genesis emulation does not work at all. It starts to load the ROM and then crashes. I have tried with the following ROMS: Quackshot Phantasy Star 3 and Alex Kidd I have tried all the settings : ASM or C core is doing the same. With or without Zx 80 emulation as well.
Anyone else having the same trouble ?

Beta 7 on T|E, running UDMH with 9.2 mb free.
SNES - speed and stability seem much improved. I'm not seeing any crashes going back to the GUI. ASM seems to run much better than C core.
GB - Speed is even better.
GEN - Tried loading several roms (Shadowrun, Landstalker, D&D, and Chaos Engine). Chaos Engine and Shadowrun loaded, the others did not. Chaos engine seemed to have some graphical problems, whereas Shadowrun would not move past the new game screen.
It was absolutely great to see the improvement. LJP is definitely one of the best Palm programs on the market.

Tungsten T3 27 mb internal free no mem hacks no Launcher used
This is a curious little thing.
I have installed Beta 0.7 with very pleasing results and some confusing ones.
Firstly Genesis sound emulation is a tad bitty ( but thats ok ). ;D
But the Snes em was much slower than the previous version Beta 0.6b by a good 20 fps.
???Now the strange part, when I have installed both beta 0.7 and 0.6b so that they are both on my Palm T3 I reach the same fps as Beta 0.6b alone.
With Beta 7 installed I reach 38 fps with full sound and ASM on in Aladdin.
With both Beta 7 and Beta 6b installed on my palm with full sound and ASM I reach 52 to 58 fps. Thats without even starting Beta 6b just runnung Beta 7.
So both will live on my Palm for the time being.
Keep up the good work

On my ZIRE 72, free RAM=11.8 MB the Genesis emulation does not work at all. It starts to load the ROM and then crashes. I have the same Zire 72, it works fine for me, so most likly not a poroblem in the code. I run it with 19mb of RAM, using UDMH. Try altering different settings.

one thing I noticed with zelda, a link to the past, is when I exit a game, ljp display saving SRAM and then locks up, so I then have to use the reset pin... but the game works great when I am in it darrin

Great work !
But that darn Palm OS key masking issue.... Is it just TC's that see this?
Example if you run Sonic The Hedgehog 1 with sound. Let the Demo run at the beginning, it is fantastic ! But as soon as you depress any button/d-pad you can see the major slow down that occurs. The only way I have found to Counteract that is to turn off the audio.
Is anyone actually able to run Genesis games smoothly with Audio on? If so please state your settings. (Ie. Frame setting, Audio settings, UDMH active, Palm Model, etc)
Thanks, Stuart Palm TC

I've been having little to no problems with the new version. Sometimes loading genesis games crashes, other times the exact same game loads and runs perfect. The major problem is that when I tap the screen to get the menu or get back to the launcher, snes and gens crash about 40% of the time. Other than that, I get about 43-47 fps w/ perfect sound on snes; and 58-62 fps on gens. The sound is always set to on, but it doesn't always play. Treo 650 w/ Zlauncher and UDMH.

hey hey kids! ive only been able to get .SMD roms to run so far. no .sms or any other kind of sega rom will work for me. genesis was the LATER system, right> i thought it was backwards comapatble with the eairlier sega console. am i missing something? on the few roms ive gotten to work, sound is good but cuts my frame rate by a third. usually around 48-50 fps, with sound enabled, i get around 35. ill mess around with the settings more. i really like the power off only in osd, its not hard to tap the screen before hitting the power button, and i havent had it shut off once that i didnt want it to. i have been having really bad problems with shutdowns every 3-5 minutes! and that SUCKED. new version is way better. PLEASE DONT GO BACK. i know some people like it better the other way, but its almost inpossible to play a game when it keeps turning off. and yes, i tired the trick in memo pad, but that seems to work for a little while, but then either causes a soft rest and then stops helping, or once i think it actually caused a hard reset! i dunno.
i havent tried any umdh hacks ( or what ever) but i have not had any luck with the asm core. starts to load snes then soft resets every time. i get about 45-60 fps with out sound enabled and 40-55 with sound in snes, which is mostly tolorable. no hit in any other modules with sound.
