I am also experiencing these problems. Diagonal + fire in Super C pauses the game...
I did a search for 'diagonal' and nothing useful came up.

It's an OS problem. The way it encodes the keys in the bit field sometimes creates this kind of erratic behavior.

Thanks Tinnus. So is there a solution to the OS problem?

Well it's a problem in the OS so not much we can do about it.
MAYBE there's a way to work around it, I shall try one of these days.

Tinnus, these button problems are the ONLY thing holding me back from pure GBC and NES gaming bliss. (SNES is another story, but I'm reading the boards to see what I can do). I truly hope you can fix these.

I mapped the start button to a screen corner and all is well. I played SMB3 on my commute last night and this morning with no annoying pauses.
