I love LJP on my Treo, but hate the missed calls and alerts. Here's a thought: can you add an option to bring up the OSD every x minutes? As soon as the OSD comes up, it shows all the alerts. That way, I know within, say, 3 minutes if I've missed a call or alert. That's better than getting immersed in a game and not knowing for 20 mins.
