Hello, since i have noticed that there is not a Nx80 specific thread, i decided to start this one. to begin, i have a question. -is it still normal for the NX80 not to play Sound on any module (that is: nes, Gb-Gbc, Snes, Gen)? (even with latest beta and .lem modules) -Does any body know if other clie models or palm models play sound? -what is better for the Clie to run C core, or ASM core? -what is ASM? and with that what C? well, i had to ask since i have no experience on Developing for palm (i am a med. school student so you can tell i have no time for any thing else, other than Study, eat, and Sleep if i have a chance...... also. play Snes and GBC on my Clie when staying over night at the hospital ) so i hope others have same questions as i do, and please remember , try making this a NX80 thread, in the mean of your posibilities, thank you and GOD Bless you all. Specially yoyofr for this Incredible Emulator

Hey Mauritus! I was thinking of getting a NX-80v a few weeks ago (I have just sold my previous palm NX-70v) and am glad to hear it has been working relatively good for you. How many frames per second have you been getting on the SNES? do you find the games playable? Like I said I don't have a CLIE anymore but I do know that a great developer by the name of CLIEpet released a patch for the sony audio system that makes it more compatible with other palm programs, and I'm not sure but I believe this will most likely fix your problme. You can find the file here aibohack.com/clie/modclieaud.htm , it's called MCA 2.05, let me know how it works.

Desiding in buying a Clie, is one of the best things i have ever done in my life. i can take notes of my med school classes in it (DocsToGo), record teachers lectures (voiceRec), Record Important videos for my classes. Review my recorded classes with Pockettunes (MCA patch form cliePet), or just listen to music when i am on the go. and if i am studing in the library or mall plaza, listen to Net radio. the greatest. take pictures or video form corpeses, injuryies, clinical conditions, for later review, or presentation. taking sunsets, or day break. is the best with the camera, Friends and family. having some time of the medical ebooks that i carry in the mem stick. i can view some Anime, or Broken Saints, Flash movie. instead of carrying my laptop everywhere around,... after my final exams, will try Win Hand. and now this!!!! LJP the best Retro emulator ever.... for the go... and when you are in home computer, continue your journey where you left off , before getting out of the train, bus, etc. comming back with the full emprovements and Levels form your fave RPG, is the best is the Best thing you could ever ask for a gadjet.... i would like seeing and Ipod doing as half of what this thing does.... , (even so.... jeje, clie lacks of 20 to 40 Gb to stand a counter smack to the face) jjajajaj don't get me wrong... i do enjoy a life with out the Clie. but... it makes it better... that's all... so yes. you sould consider having a Clie back in your life again. if not. at least a palm Z72. or even better a Zodiac. but no. MCA does not fixes the problem i have already tried. yoyofr. stated that we clie users should wait a while. he is getting the sound API (what ever that means, .... jejeje ) if thats the problem. may be yoyofr should try talking to CliePet. as see how his expertiees for the Sony's Sound API reseach can help him complete the missing link between this and that, and over there as well ;D jajajjaa i just get lost of fun God Bless

Most cpu intensive apps on palm are PNO. Palmos apps have to run in 68k mode (because first palm devices used 68000 cpu from motorola, and palmos5 is retro-compatible), but if they need cpu intensive process (like emulation), they can switch to ARM mode (using full power of the ARM cpu). Such applications use PNO (Palm Native Object, it means using ARM instructions instead of 68000 emulated ones). When you call a palmos api function in a PNO, the usual way is to switch back to 68k mode and to do the call. As your cpu is an arm cpu, the palmos call in 68k mode results in executing a system function which in the end is ARM instructions (because your device use an ARM cpu). To speed up the process, LJP uses 'armlib' from YAHM, which allows to directly call the palmos ARM function from the PNO (so ARM->ARM instread of ARM->68k->ARM). That's why the MCA patch does not work. The MCA patch intercept calls to palmos sound api functions that are done from 68k mode. In short terms : no patch : ARM(pno) calls api function -> 68k calls api function -> ARM (palmos internal). MCA patch : ARM(pnoĆ calls api function ->68k calls api function -> MCA patch intercept and redirect to sony apu funtion-> ARM (palmos sony specific function).

i was playing with my Clie NX80 and Zelda (NES) with sound emulated at 44Mhz and evey now and then i got a Slow Down and a sudden stop in the game. freezed and after 10 second it unfreezed. it kept doin this and every now and then until o got the sound down to 22Mhz. now speed was normal, but kept freezing. (after this change i noticed it didn't freezed that often in comparison to the other setting). i played with the GBc. and ever since i have played v0.8. i got sound but with a continous taka taka noise masking the Sound fx and music. this kept happening with this module now i decided to try the Snes, and i got a bit of slow down on the game it self so i turned the sound off from the in emultion options (not the main selection with the purple background, and Famicom avatar, etc.) to see if that was slowing the thing Down. so after a while playing i turned the sound on, the same way i turned it off. and when i pressed back, to get back to game i got a fatal error notice i had to reset manualy after that i got no sound from any of the 4 modules supported. even if i did the reset several times. also a couple of times i got this message from an error ocurring with the program and said i had to contact developer and this showed at the bottom of the text."sys(0505) (0,1115)" i tapped ok LJP onscreen question: Exit emultor? Y/N and i tapped yes. so it got me to selection screen again many tries later and after changing frecuently from Rom to Rom (with nes and gb and snes games) i got a message out of memory mesasge, forced me to reset and after i checked i still got like 8mb free. and i know this does not happen on clies i rested a while. and i grabbed my clie again. started to play again with sound enabled, and no out of memory message. as i would normally do. so, i don't get it is this what unstable sound inc. means? is this normal? also. that Taka Taka Noise is really annoying has any clie user had the same experience?? or is this just me? also the Game Controller has that same problem of the key being recogniced as 80 and after a many attempts i got that expected 20 or 40 in the A or B botton. also i noticed that the 80 jumped at times to UP or LEFT without any pattern. just jumped... i need someone to help me understand this, jaja well that is all i can remember now. i will be doing some more test in the morning God Bless
