This looks extremely promising, heh, maybe , but i doubt it, enough to satsify the psp people who are compaling about no new releases. Keep up the Great work.

Hi Tinnus... Well done on Your work on LJR so far!!! As for porting it to PSP...Why bother...I saw the response you got on their forum, and was disgusted at some of thier jibes at you.. Obviously they have not seen your work on good old Palm os, otherwise I dont think they would be so critical. We too also have other emulators of Nes, Gbc and TG16 formats, but never have I heard any Palm owner complain about having another emulator... Anyway, I hope you continue the excellent work on LJR for Palm and look forward to seeing the results in the future..... P.S. Will ***4 Palm be a module within LJR or will you be keeping it as a stand alone emulator? Tinnus is a big boy and can handle criticism, and I'm sure he knows that it is ill-advised. Those idiots won't stop him from releasing a groundbreaking program for PSP. And if it does, Tinnus, could you at least make a PSP version for me? hahaha

This looks really good so far, most of the things I'm hoping you will add for LJ are already mentioned in the LJP to do list topic, the only thing is I would also like to be able to modify the controls from the menu inside the game and either have a button that can switch all the 1st player buttons to be used as 2nd player buttons if you add multi player support for those passnplay games or have multiple profiles for game control configurations so you don't have to reconfigure each button individually before switching. I would like to help but I don't think there would be too much I could do. I can do some images with having adobe photo shop, image ready, fireworks and flash. I know a lot of action script and from some of the tutorials I looked at, some parts of c++ look about the same so I might be able to do something with that. I also have a zire 72 and 2gb memory card so I can do a lot testing and with large amounts of roms. As for the name, I liked LJR for little john revolution, little john emulator collection and LJX. Another name could be LJR for Little John Retro since I saw in another topic you said that the main purpose of LJP was retro gaming.

Nice one Tinnus!! Any idea of when we will get a first release mate?

No idea, and with the due respect, not a good thing to say Really, I'm NOT angry or wanting to sound rude. But consider... 1) I'm doing it in my spare time. Who knows when a "release" will get done. 2) Note I said "release" with quotes. As you just saw, that post is also a "release" of sorts. I will keep releasing WIPs from now on so you will know the progress as it goes. It all depends on my free time, and my motivation to do it. It's progressing quite nicely at the moment though, however in parts you can't see yet (mostly due to there not being a launcher).

Since it's modular, do you want any assistance doing any of the parts?

!! P R O O F P O S I T I V E !! Tinnus!! WOWSERS! That is so rad! Congratulations on the amazing progress on LJX (where X=unknown)!! I never expected to see new development this quickly! I cant wait to test out LJP/LJX on my Treo. Im also very curious to find out what the new *** emulator additions might be ... i know a few ideas were passed around and ive read your thoughts, but will be very excited to see final implementation and release! Regarding final release of proposed "Little John Emulator Collection" ... names are such a fickle thing ... personally id go with something either more simplistic or with a little more sparkle. If i may be so bold as to offer my suggestions: LJ7 - Little John 2007 LJX - Little John eXtra LJEm - Little John Emulator But the best name by far is simply: Little JohnIts always been the name, just shorten it & keep it simple! ;D how horrible am i - quoting myself? iwasntgoingtobrag, but since everyone seems to be liking the LJX idea, i just wanted to point out ;D ithoughtofitfirst ;D kudos to mavsman4457 for Little John Extreme <-- best choice yet utilizing LJX's new name!

Sorry if these posts annoy you, I'm an eccentric billionaire Haha, I just checked and my anniversary is about 9 days away. February 12th. I'm glad I joined because if I didn't then I would have never gotten a PSP and I love my PSP. I am getting it back in a couple of days after I sent it away to get an analog stick mod done in order to use a PS1 analog stick on it. It has been 3 whole months! I can't wait for my reunion and to try out this on my beloved PSP.

this is awsome tinnus. you made my zodiac great with the work on LJZ and now your making it onto my PSP and my PC. Are we going to still have Zodiac special fetures or will that all just be redone? If you need help testing just let know. Also any chance of this hitting the NDS? Il help test that on my MMD. Keep up the great work and i look forward to being able to say i play on nothing but LJ

The NDS is an interesting option, but I'd have to be able to fully test on a NDS emulator (during development) since I don't own a real DS.

Woops, I just misunderstood the last two posts. Are the NDS emulators for the PC even good? I've heard that they aren't very good so to test solely on an emulator might not work out great but it would be awesome if you could get LJX on an NDS but it is less powerful than all the other systems that LJX is on so you might run into trouble with some of the more complicated systems. Just a guess.

At this point, I think you'd need an official NDS developer's kit in order to be assured that anything you wrote would actually work on an NDS.

well if you do decide to jump on the nDS wagon with this you can consider me, my nDS, and Max Media Dock yours for testing. Just a lil info for thoes who do not have a nDS, To play homebrew you either need a Card Solition (DS-X, Max Media Dock, and the such) or a hacked wifi set up that basicly makes your PC a nDS Download Station (i have never tried this only read as i dont see how this works with most homebrew). The Cheapest and easiest way would be the MMD as it is sold at walmart annd most other major retialers. Here are a few links to look at for info on nDS dev. www.aaronrogers.com/nintendods/ (basic begginers guide) www.aaronrogers.com/nintendods/links.php and dl.qj.net also is good for files and the DS emus. I would like to see most of the Z ports make it over to the PSP or DS. Serval of the things ported to them all look much nicer on the zodiac (quake as example is stunning on zodiac and fuzzy on teh psp). I say there needs to be a fund to buy all teh Zodiacs Devs PSPs and DS to be able to work with as well PS I remember when you first started working on LJZ Tinnus as an almost un-known dev, now i see people refering to you and the rest of the people who made the zodiac great as legends. Brovo on all the good work you have done, becuase of you and the rest (Metaview, Vilmos, Yoyo, and all teh others who are slipping my mind) i always had something to devirt my mind from my troubles over the last few years and for that Thank You more than you will ever know.

Nintendo DS "roms" are self-contained filesystems with seperate executables and shared resources for the ARM7 and ARM9 processors. Translating from two differing CPUs to one in realtime would be a nightmare, even with HLE and rom pre-optimization. Porting LJP to the DS is likely not as difficult. Here's a homebrew guide. www.double.co.nz/nintendo_ds/nds_develop1.html

I just though of an idea for the name of the new emulator, tell me what you think but since so far it has been little john followed by the system it is for (zodiac and then palm) and Access is the current owner of palm OS and they are coming out with a new operating system to replace palm called Access Linux Platform which is still backwards compatible with Palm OS programs but is now linux based, the new emulator could be called little john access (LJA). This would change for whatever other system Tinnus plans to port this to.

I really think Little John Access is terrible, sorry I'll keep calling it LJX for the time being since you people seem to like it so much, but it's just a WIP name! (remember Win95 was called 'Chicago' while in WIP...)

I like LJX because it follows in the footsteps of projects like SNES9X -- eventually giving up on the last symbol and subtituting an X to cover all possibilities

Windows 95 was chicago?! That's a strange name. Well for the record I hope the LJX isn't just a WIP name and that it sticks. I like the way it sounds and the way it looks but I guess it would really matter what the new name was.

Windows 95b was Chicago -- because the development team that worked on it was located in Chicago; they were on a separate development track from the Redmond guys who wrote (the buggy) 95a and 95c releases.
Why not call this the LJX "Brasilia" release?
