Hey! I need advice on running vcs 2600 games via LJP on my Treo 650. Please give me advice: Whenever I try to run VCS/Atari 2600 games on my Treo 650, the screen blacks out. I do not have UDMH yet. Is part of the problem? I am also having trouble running "Fantasy Zone 2- Teears of opa-opa" on the NES and LJP keeps talking about the mapper... If I do get UDMH, will I be able to play Genessis games, Neo Geo, Wonderswan, and SNES games via LJP on my Treo 650? I also need advice on converting .bin to .rom for Blisspalm. Does anybody know how to do this? how come "doom for intellivision" won't run on my Blisspalm? lastly, could somebody tell me about good software that can be used to download streaming video from websites&You Tube? I got a ton of questions. Please give me a ton of advice! All the best,

Hi, first off, the world needs more girls like you. Not only are you a retro gamer, you're a retro gamer on a high-tech smartphone. Rock on, rock on ... Anyway, you have to set the Display Size to x1 in the settings to be able to see. VCS emulation is very bad. Not sure if it's only on the 650 (which I also have so I'll be able to help you out better). You will not need UDMH for VCS, NES, GB, Neo Geo, Wonderswan and for some Genesis games. SNES games need a LOT of memory, so you'll need to have lots of RAM free and a lot of patience. It reboots a lot. If you have very little RAM left, like under 5MB, it will always reboot whenever you try to load a game. I can't even play SNES anymore As for software, check out: mytreo.net.

For the last question, you'll need the latest Kinoma Player. For questions like that, you should also check out 1src.com

First you have to extract the actual video URL so you can feed it to Kinoma... I seem to recall the latest version of Kinoma playing FLV files, which means it should play the ones at YouTube. There is a FireFox plugin that will extract the needed URL for you; you can also do it by viewing page source.

The Kinoma Player that comes bundled with Palms is likely an old version with a proprietary format. You need the latest version, Kinoma Player 4 EX, to stream video. (It's also the only video-streaming media player at this time, though CorePlayer might surpass it in the future.)
I've heard that only Blazer 4.5 will send video links directly to Kinoma Player 4 EX. Web Pro 3.5 sure doesn't. Maybe I'll have better luck with Dmitry's hacked NetFront 3.1, but I doubt it.
On a T|C, the player seems to work fine, but I keep getting "insufficient bandwidth" messages through a m-Router/PPP connection through cradle and a somewhat-weak Wi-Fi signal(my old Wi-Fi router is broken, so I have to go "borrow" someone else's...). Using the "prefer download to streaming" option seemed to lock up the T|C, which is a shame seeing that I would love to take some YGO!:TAS episodes with me anywhere I go.
Oh, and one more note about Kinoma-STAY FAR AWAY from the Producer. It never converted my video files properly.
As far as the Treo 650 and UDMH...well, since the 650 is an NVFS device, I'm not quite sure how it would work out. (I have never touched an NVFS device, just a T|E and a T|C.) You'll probably want to look for an app called "UnCache", which should flush your DBCache and help a bit with stability. I think UDMH turns that DBCache into additional dynamic heap, if the DBCache is traditional volatile RAM like I think it is. In any case, with the 650's memory constraints, you'll probably need the apps in order to think about emulating the Genesis/Mega Drive and SNES. (Makes me appreciate my T|C's massive dynamic heap that much more.)
