I waited so long to have a snes emulator to play zelda 3 ^^ So I've installed the emulator like you told in install guide. But :
I've tested on a T|T3 with 16Mo free ram. when i try to launch zelda's rom in smc format, it says "error while loading npo"
Do you know what's the problem ? thanks and really big thanks to have made my dream become real ^^ c ya

Zelda 3 is definatly the best game ever made. I have it on my Zire 72, works pefectly, great speed, runs exactly like the normal game. I sugesst getting the rom from a different sorce, or try messing with the settings

hey guy i would like to be like you ^^ can you tell me your mail by pv please ? so you could send me your rom to test it and be sure that's mine that is a bad one. For the settings, i tried many things but nothing to do... Just for me to know : do you copy your rom in .smc or .zip ? Thanks cya

I believe that you can put the zip as it is on the rom folder. i have done that and it works just as it should...

just for the sake of curiosity: "What is a PNO load error?" short answer: an error while loading the required data to run the game. long long answer: a PNO can be though of like a mini-application which in this case are the individual emulation modules (GB, NES etc). The main application (the launcher) gets input from the GUI and fires off the PNO, that is, the sub-application, which in turn emulates the desired system. For this mini-app to be launched properly, it must be copied entirely to dynamic memory (think of this like the RAM in your computer) which is limited. Also some required data for the emulation need to be copied to this area, not to tell that some space must be free for in-emulation needs (screen buffer, etc). For this reason, sometimes we get short of dynamic memory and there is not enough space to load the PNO in memory (the PNOs are actually the .lem files). In this case, LJP gives an error. What UDMH does is get your free storage memory and make the system use it as dynamic memory. So, your total dynamic memory becomes the built-in mem + the free storage mem. So, if you need say 8MB of dynamic memory and your device has only 6MB, free some 3-4MB in storage memory (it's always good to have extra free space to avoid data overwrite) and BOOM, your dynamic memory has increased to 10MB. And that doesn't actually make things slower like virtual memory in a desktop does. In fact, the read/write speed in storage and dynamic RAM are the same, because they're really the same RAM. It's just that the system divides it into storage and dynamic (I think that's the approach PalmSource takes to keep data the most secure possible). Whew, that was indeed long. But I hope someone has a good time reading it.

hey good explanation so if I understood well : you have two parts in memory : dynamic (like ram on PCs) storage (like HDD on PCs) UDMH is like swap memory, it uses storage memory to be dynamic memory, to permit the loading of emu app in this dynamic memory via the storage one ^^ thanks for that guy, i have understood why now ^^ but I'm sad, really sad, my game is laggy, @*%$# laggy.... 15fps maxi, avg : 12fps... tryed with zelda 3 sfc rom. I tryed all possibilities in config menu but nothing to do, fps doesn't increase.... Do you know if I can gain speed by doing anything ? Thanks bye

good explanation tinnus! T|T3 should be fast! try the following option in config => audio : "off", or if you want sound "on" and freq = 22khz => gfx : use fast render with frameskip = 1 or 2 and no zoom mode (zoom 1:1) => other : use 'asm' You can use "lightspeed" too, which is an app to overclock your palm cpu.

hi yoyo ! i even tryed these options but it's too slow.... for the overclock app, i'm affraid about that... dunno if it's safe or no... if you have tested it, can you please tell me if it's dangerous for my palm or not please ? thanks

Use PXAclocker which works for T3 and is free. I can guarantee you it's safe as long as you keep the speed inside its limits; 600 MHz as a max for the T3 is good (and a 50% increase over original clock!).
Be sure not to have ANYTHING running in background like keyboard driver (specially), pocket tunes (doesn't slow too much actually), ZLauncher QL anywhere, etc.

Thats odd, T|T3 has alot better processor then my palm, ut mine runs full speed. Maybe different settings. I do use lightspeed for Mario RPG, it runsalot smoother with it.

How far have you been able to play through Super Mario RPG? I get a fatal error when I arrived at my first level up.

Hey Tinnus, does PXAclocker work On TlE? I looked at the site and it does not say that it does or does not work with it. It just states the supported types. If it does which do you find better lightspeed or PXAclocker?

If it does which do you find better lightspeed or PXAclocker? Unfortunately it doesn't work. PXAClocker only works with Intel XScale CPUs (T|T3, T|C, T|T5, Zire 72 and some Clie models if I'm not mistaken) and the T|E has a Texas Instruments OMAP CPU. So we have to live with Lightspeed, which unfortunately is not free.

thnx for the explaination wasn't for sure though. so do You get improved memebership based on number of post or activity? I want to be a junior memeber too!! guess I gotta become more active. Probably wouldn't hurt to take up programming along with my ME degree, college sucks. Does any one have any contacts or know anything about lightspeed they seem to be an inactive site laste news update 2nd public beta of Lightspeed v2.0 available 15/9/2004 thats along time ago. guess I am just used to getting new version of LJP everyweek or so yoyofr great work by the way
