Its the only GB rom I currently have on my Treo 755p, but Donkey Kong 94 consistently crashes the software: I get an "Error at opening" message, before my phone soft-resets. I thought maybe this was an issue with the rom, so I put it on the card again. However, I still get the same error. I know that it worked in earlier versions. Is it possible that somehow a newer version since RC2 or so broke something to do with gameboy roms, or maybe is there some setting or file left over thats breaking it?

I looked in my directory, and found two files that were included in older versions that don't seem to be included any longer, nestoy.zip, and goodgbx.zip. What exactly do these files do, are they necessary? I deleted them both and still have the same issue, so I don't think that they caused it.

It doesn't really seem to be a memory issue to me, although you'd probably know better, but it's an old gameboy game, not even color, and I can run Sega, NES, SNES games fine. Plus before I open it it says RAM: 6246/ 4274KB DB: 10232/ 10230 KB with a stack use of 10%
I wonder if maybe some of the modules are corrupted, I guess I'll try redownloading them.

memory issue means: somewhere the memory is trashed...

Oh, okay then. So there's really nothing I can do about it?
Edit: Deleting my LJP folder and redownloading it seemed to work, sorry for the trouble.

What exactly do these files do, are they necessary? I deleted them both and still have the same issue, so I don't think that they caused it. A quick google turned up this: "NES] Added support for nestoy => put nestoy.zip (the nestoy.dat file zipped) in /PALM/Programs/LJP. [GB] Added support for goodgbx => put nestoy.zip (the nestoy.dat file zipped) in /PALM/Programs/LJP. " That's from version 0.8. Nestoy and GoodGBX are ROM renamers; I take it version 0.8 could list NES and GBX ROMs based on checksum and display the names from the dat files instead of the ROMs' filenames.

No, it just displayed them in the "sys info" page in-game edit: It's a pretty good idea though, I will consider it in LJX

Tinnus: might not be all that good an idea, as most filenames from goodTools are around 28 characters long... plus, Cowering removed the data dump code from his apps (no more secret dump code). You could probably use CLRMAME DAT files though; just about everything uses that. If you stripped all the tags, the game name might actually fit on the screen.

Yes, I'm probably able to strip down the names these things give me, and of course, I would make an option to disable it I've looked at CLEMAME DATs, and found this website -- www.gbadat.altervista.org/datset.htm , problem being, I can's seem to figure out where he got those CRCs from since they don't match with the CRCs I get from my ROMs (I've tried 2 or 3 for NES). Anywhere else where I could get free databases for LJP's consoles?

There are two CRCs you can use with ROMs -- the zip-based CRC, and the ROM-based CRC. The Zip-based one is in the zip header (you can generate it yourself if the file is unzipped). The ROM-based one is embedded inside the ROM itself, and doesn't include the header information.
TOSEC is a good place to get CLRMAME datfiles, but they generally leave the console stuff to Cowering's Good Tools.

Ahh, so the CRC it lists probably excludes the header and is made with just the raw ROM data? Thanks, I'm going to try that edit: nope, still no way to get the CRCs the same as those files.

Strange; you might need to contact me with some sample CRCs and I'll see if I can figure out what's going on. You are using 32-bit CRCs, right?

Yeah, try the DATs in the link I just wrote 2 or 3 posts before. Those were the only ones I found for all systems LJ emulates (except Atari 2600).

Try the ones at this location: www.tosec.org/There's a zip there that has all the datfiles for 746 systems available there. [edit] I just installed TIM, and it lets you export to CLRMAME, RomCenter, or XML format -- so you could use any of these formats. After using it, it caught every ROM I threw at it correctly.

Could you export to CLRMAME for the consoles LJP has and e-mail them to me? I can't download the DB file correctly, it keeps saying it's corrupted.

Sure thing... PM me the email addy you want them sent to. I'll send you a few other ones that might make it into LJX too
