I'm having a problem playing anything but NES roms. I've tried opening GENS and SNES roms and they give the following for every rom I try...
Error while opening file.
Error loading file 'blah blah....'
Ram 9999kb/9999kb DB 10804/10625kb Treo 650
Are the roms bad? What can I do?

Is the error when loading the ROM file? Are your directory structures correct? /Palm/Programs/LJP/SNES/ROMs/<romname>.zip ?
The other thing to check is the ljp.ini and <romname>.ini files.

Yes the error happens when trying to load the file. The directories are setup correctly.
Is there a certain extension that the roms must have? Most of my GENS roms are .bin or .smd. My SNES roms don't have any extension at all.
The ljp.ini has the correct directories listed. The <romname>ini files are all empty.

SNES roms should be .smc, and Genesis roms should be .smd. However, I tend to zip mine, so they'd be .zip with the internal files named with that convention.

SNES, Genesis take too much RAM. The 650 doesn't have enough dynamic RAM. Even if UDMH tells you something about 9999kB...

both of them worked on my 650 just fine. I bet he has to many programs taking up to much space. P.S. In fact SNES worked better on my 650 than my 680 because I could overclock my 650.

If he does a warm reset then launches UDMH then launches LJP (and has max 50 roms in his rom list), he should have no problems playing SNES and Genesis games.

I changed the extension on my SNES games to .smc and now they all play fine. However my GENS games still have same error, whether zipped or not.
Is there another extension i can try for GENS since changing it worked for SNES?
I recently did a hard reset before installing ljp, udmh, and the games. Should i still do a warm reset?

Doing a warm reset prevents any application extensions from loading at bootup. When you run UDMH, it installs the UDMH extensions into memory, giving you the expanded memory management. So, even if your Treo is loaded up with stuff, doing a warm reset (reset with up button pressed) and then launching UDMH will give you the maximum amount of available memory. If you want to overclock, you'll also have to run your overclocking app once before launching LJP.
Genesis games (in the Genz folder) need to have .smd or .bin as the file extension.

I tried the warm reset and still GENS won't play. File extensions are correct. It just won't open the roms.

I completely cleared my SD Card, re-installed ljp, roms and such, and it finally works. Thank you _Em for all your help.
