Well, the emulator supports 5. Who cares about the real system?

For games such as Bomberman, both NES and SNES had controller expansion cables. NES supported up to 4 controllers and SNES supported up to 6, IIRC. You will find a number of party-style games that support 4 to 6 players -- including hot seat games that this feature enhancement enables.

Oh, yeah that way you could play Gauntlet II using any color character you wanted! Before (playing single player) you could only play as Red, since that's player 1. But since you can pick your player now you could be red, blue, yellow, or green! How fun is that?
If you're really up for a challenge you could load up several characters and switch between them on the fly to try and keep them all alive.

So wait, there's a new version of RC9 released? Is that what you all are talking about, and it has multiplayer for SNES! Awesome! Does it have multiplayer for Genesis too? I can't wait to play Sonic 2 with another player with my bluetooth gamepad.

Genesis: not yet. But I will add it. Sonic 2 is MP? Ok, I'll give it a try tonight and release an update tomorrow.

vegaman is getting confused between synchronous multiplayer (not yet implemented) and hot-seat multiplayer (done in NES and SNES). Hotseat multiplayer lets you switch between emulated controllers on a single LJP controller setup; it doesn't let you use a bluetooth controller and the Palm's buttons as two different controllers at the same time.

I thought Metaview had added the option to control player 2 with another input device

Ok: There is hot-seat, where it switches between players using the same input method. And there is real 2 player: one on the device and one on the BT gamepad. When I add MP then I add it for both: 1 on the device, 1 o nthe BT gamepad and additionally the hot-seat feature toggled on the beltbar: reset icon. Just because the reset icon looks like a switch symbol It is in NES, SNES and will be in Genesis and some more devices. Actually I forgot in which, but you could test it: when reset asks for a reset, it isn't, if it switches player you can also use the BT gamepad and play real MP. but you will have to enable real MP in the launcher.

At least one game (Super Mario RPG) detects the 4-port multiplayer adapter and won't run with it enabled.

And Tinnus, I am sorry but I have a bad habit of wanting everything to be perfect. I hope you can keep that in mind as you make ljx. The problem is not wanting everything to be perfect, not only I understand that but I'm also like this most of the time. The problem is if you think your perfect is the same as the others' Of course the 0 thing was a joke, I also think the first player should be "Player 1". But, for example, you could have researched and found out NES and SNES indeed could be played by up to 5. The way you stated that and the Player 0 "problem" sounded like as if Metaview didn't know what he was doing. Again, just a heads-up. People misunderstand what you write sometimes Oh, and I'll keep that in mind since I want it to be as perfect as I can get. Can't guarantee it will be the same as your perfect though

When you launch Super Mario RPG it gives you a message screen that says "PLEASE DISCONNECT SUPER NES MULTI-PLAYER ADAPTER TO START PLAYING"
There's no way around it that I can find, and the game won't advance beyond that point.

Interesting, why the heck would the adapter be a bad thing? Did the game do anything especially weird with the controller?
