Hi there board. First of all, let me just say I'm so glad that I have stumbled across this forum. I've been using LJP almost daily for the past 6 months. Well the SNES emulator anyway. I'm currently running RC8 with no bugs at all since its install about 2 months ago. Mind you I've only been playing FF3 so far, but the zelda rom is just itching to be run next. I want the developers to know that I truly appreciate what you've done. I myself have very limited knowledge to the palm format. and will probably go to the windows mobile version on my next upgrade. I wanted to know if there was any playstation or n64 emulators for the 700p? Is there any in the works for future palm treo's? Thanks again for a totally kickazz program.

Playstation: see other thread in these forums. N64: Not a chance -- not if you want it to be playable, anyway. Think about the slowest PC that can play an N64 emulator (800MHz with decent graphics co-processor). How is any PDA with max CPU speed of 624MHz and NO graphics co-processor supposed to outperform that?
That said, the Zodiac might be able to emulate the N64, as they're both RISC processors and both have a graphics co-processor. Nothing will be actually playable due to CPU speed, but stuf'll be runnable. Definitely not on a 700p though.

Check the PSP for an idea of what you can do with heavy HW help

DUDE PSP HAS A 333 MgHz proccessor and it can emulate the n64 rather nicely. Once sound proccessing is moved to the ME it will even have sound with no fps loss. Anyways i'm just saying yeah it's true that there is no decent n64 emulator around but that just means that someone needs to introduce a new perspective on the issue (like exophase/strnman did with dynarecs)

I guess the N64 emulation on the PSP uses the 3D chip for the graphics, and as far as I know, no palm device has any kind of 3D chip.

It has a 2D chip with no polygon drawing capabilities.

The Zodiac was made by Tapwave, not Palm, and they have closed doors some years ago already unfortunately

Yes, the Dreamcast is almost PS2 level. Well, a lot closer to the PS2 than the N64.

There's a good chance, and it would work even better on other devices that have a >200Mhz CPU As said before, I should try it once LJX is working for Palm.

Dreamcast was made by Sega... and developing the DC, combined with horrible marketing sent them to the brink of bankruptcy. They've dumped their console and arcade divisions and now survive off of their game IP portfolio.

And what about earlier computer emulators, such as Apple II / MSX / PC's, among others? I know we have some of them inside the current PalmMESS, but they are VERY preliminary, since the PalmMESS source is based on the MAME 037b5 source. And just a few systems are really playable. I talked to Vilmos a couple of months ago and he told me that he's not working on PalmMESS because, due to the current PDA capabilities, he cannot go ahead to other MESS versions beyond 037b5. Later MESS versions showed up to be very buggy at that time. So don't expect to see PalmMESS improved anytime soon.

Well, someone could probably port Mini vMac to the PalmOS... there are a few Apple ][ emulators that wouldn't be all that difficult either. Basically, if it can run on a GBA, it can probably be ported to PalmOS. The following systems are currently emulated on the GBA: NES [LJP does this] SNES [LJP does this] ZX80 (Sinclair Spectrum) [7 emulators listed hereSMS [LJP does this] PCE (TG16) MAME [ported] GB/GBC [LJP does this] A2600 [LJP does this] Chip8 Systems requiring a keyboard are more difficult to port to PalmOS, so not many have been attempted. The following systems are already emulated on the PalmOS: Apple //Atari STCommodore 64Commodore Amiga (Yay Henk!) Coleco ColecoVisionNEC PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16Oh, and PC DOS (Double Yay Henk!)
