Tablet? You're not referring to the Foleo are you? Because they cancelled that, and it wasn't going to be able to run PalmOS programs anyway. Just native linux...and even that would have been very limited due to it running on an ARM processor.
I'm unaware of anything else that Palm's released (or said they were going to release) in the last several years that's resembled a tablet...

just got a centro a few days ago... LJP works awesome on it.. even slightly better performance than the 680/650 How's the 5-way and overall button arrangement on the Centro for gaming? It's enough of a change from previous Treo models that I'm interested to learn how you like that aspect in LJP. at first it takes 1 or 2 days to learn to use the 5 way because the buttons or more combined. the hard buttons are excellent as A and B for GB games. the hard buttons can also be xyab and start select on the volume controls. The only thing that really sucks is that you caan not use instinct for having a button assigned to a key except for spacebar unless you are skinny.

i completely disagree. i have very fat thumbs and I found the centro instantaneously comfortable and am currently using the keyboard for the abxy buttons as well as start/select quick save/load.

do we ever think that we'll get 15% faster so that the zodiac will be a legit snes gaming platform? if I could just get another 5-7 fps on fs 3 on final fantasy 3, I could enjoy the great controls and expansive screen, versus leaving all options at default on my treo.
does anyone with a 755p/centro know of any good tweaks for ljp as far as settings?

I play snes just fine on the zodiac: here is what i use: ASM core, fast sprites, transparency, frameskip 2. Works fine for Super metroid, super mario world, more. Mode 7 games are a bit slow. I use full screen with zodaic smoothing. Almost full speed.

Switch to frameskip 3 and you should be fine

Or turn of transparency...

overclocking max with lightspeed 3.0 solves EVERYTHING in snes.

Im a bit scared of overclocking the zodiac... kinda hard to get a new one, and expensive.

don't worry about that icefire. I've been overclocking mine since january 06 and it still is in great shape. the important thing is to probably avoid overclocking hardcore while charging. I don't know what all of that heat would do in the zod case...

If it's kept at a max of 240 mhz you should be fine. Especially if you only use it in short periods. 240? My centro can handle 500 something and any lower than that gives lower performance quality in my chrono trigger.

But the Zodiac CPU's default speed is 200 The Centro is probably underclocked to save battery.

But it has the graphics card, which is around equal to 460mhz on the Treo 650, from super mario world speeds with smotthing and stretching.

The Zod's gfx card automatically makes the game stretch to the screen size and renders the image. Normal devices don't have this function, and they need to work harder to render, stretch, AND compute the other things that emulators do, while the Zod can do these at the same time because it has 2 (3 including the sound card) processors. And somehow, icefire has benchmarked this to a treo, and gotten 460. Just to make it a little more clear. The Zodiac has one CPU and one 2D graphics chip and one sound chip that can do some MIDI. The 2D chip has internal functions for drawing sprites (rectangles) with arbitrary sizes and possibly filtering, which is what LJZ/LJP/et al use. It does NOT do anything "automatically" in the proper sense, rather it does scaling/smoothing by hardware.

The Centro uses the same Intel PXA270 520MHz processor as all Palm's other recent device releases AFAIK... it might even use the 624MHz version -- Palm has been using both in their devices for the past 4 or so years, underclocking as appropriate per-device.

Yikes. Guess i need a centro, my LJP settings are around 215 mhz, but 624!?!?
<sarcasm> Does that run Firestorm at full speed? </sarcasm>

My TX runs LJP at around 580MHz... but without the graphics co-processor that's a lot slower than it sounds. Firestorm still runs at 3fps

Zodiac firestorm: <0.5 fps with any frameskip, any config.

Firestorm's out, but I went from <.5 fps to 5-8 fps in psx4palm by overclocking my 755 to 580mhz

the max my centro can do max 585 mhz... and any firestorm gba game i try crashes it. it refuses to attempt gameplay... edit: I can't do anymore testing as my lightspeed trial ran out...(if anyone is nice enough they would buy me a version

im telling you.. its NOT really doing that speed go download speedy and check. Speedy isn't correctly registering actual speeds, based on real world tests. See this thread for details. Benchmarks have been performed using lightspeed at a wide variety of bus and clock speeds up to and including 585mhz, with verifiable results in a number of real-world applications.
