In RC8, I could run Top Gear 2 fine, but since i switched to RC9, it tells me I have a PAL controller and I need an NTSC controller to run it. I know the easiest solution download a PAL version, but I'm wondering if I found an NTSC-only game that needed the corresponding controller, what would be a fix?

You should download a pal version, just make sure you keep your save states in the same file. that way there is a chance you may be able to continue your game.

That's probably like to the new pseudo-multiplayer feature. I think the emulator now lets the console know that it has 5 controllers plugged in, and that somehow screws tha game up.
Now, I'm pretty sure a save state shouldn't work since all the timers and stuff flow differently from PAL to NTCS, and besides there is difference in the game code. So it probably would cause trouble sooner or later, once loaded.

Metaview, maybe an option to turn off multiplayer in config would rock?
