Hey Yoyo,
I guess all of us were wondering what your plans were for future versions of LJZ will be?
The NES and GB/GBC are pretty much perfect, so I guess among the Zodiac community, getting the SNES module up to full speed with sound would be the next thing we'd liek to see. Me personally if SNES gets perfected, then I wouldn't want anything else.
Please clue us in. I'm not asking for a timeframe or anything, because some people can be rather pushy, just give us an idea of how things are going to progress from here.

doesn't LJP replace LJZ ? Not that I'm aware of. LJZ has quite a few features that LJP doesn not/cannot have. Currently LJP only emulates NES, SNES, and GB/GBC, whereas LJZ does all of the above plus TG16, Wonderswan, NeoGeo Pocket, and Genesis. LJZ also has stretching/smoothing for fullscreen display modes, thansk to the ATI grpahics chip.

LJP will replace both LJZ and GuineaPig, which means that it'll also have SMS/GG and Atari 2600.
When all of the emulators are incorporated into LJP, yoyo will put something like a "zodiac mode", which will be basically LJZ, plus the optimizations and extra emulators that were added during the development of LJP.

That's right for LJP replacing LJZ, but Guineapig is still alive.

Why replacing and not joining efforts? What about Atari Lynx?

Why replacing and not joining efforts? What about Atari Lynx? LJP is base on LJZ work. And well, the efforts are allready join : the coder is the same ;p About Lynx, I don't think Yoyo planned to release lynx in the next future. but If someone add the code to LJP for the lynx, I think he would be happy to add it to the main release (as he allready done for Tinnus' filters).

What are the chances of adding GBA support to LJZ?

Right now I would say very small. If I remember right (please correct me if I'm wrong) Yoyofr doesn't want to emulate any current systems. Maybe that will change when Nintendo brings out the replacement for the GBA (from what I understand the DS isn't ment to replace the GBA but reach a different part of the gaming market.)

People should think about GBA emulation viability looking at Firestorm. The CPU emulation core is written in ASM and it's still slow as hell. So, let me take a portable (written in C) GBA emulator, toss it into LJP and see if it runs 5x quicker than Firestorm. Now, anyone's welcome to write an open-sourced GBA emulator in 99% ARM ASM (just FYI, the vey minimum CPU requirement for VBA, a GBA emulator for PC, is 300 or 500 MHz or so. But who knows...)

I vote yes on Lynx emulation and NO on GBA emulation. Time would be better spent optimizing the current modules (especially SNES, Genesis, TG16). Plus, Nintendo would be a real pain in the a$$ with legal threats if GBA emulation is attempted.
