I cant tell if anyone posted this bug already, but if you are on the launcher and you push the nav buttons, LJP will give me an info msg that shows the keycode of the button i just pressed, then if i try to play a game or exit LJP, it will give me an error message.
besides that tho, works great, cant get Metal Slug 2nd mission to work, but the first works fine, and i gots plenty more roms.

yeap, it has been reported more than once ;-) it's not a bug, only a developer info that I forgot to disactivate metal slug 2nd mission works well, it only need to have sound on or simulated

Great performance again guys ! 1.0 RC2 works very nicely on my Treo 600 (GB emulation only, I did not try the other ones). I can come in and out of the app without a single crash ! I can even play the GBC Zelda games with only simulated sound (sound was compulsory before), and I "think" it runs faster. Just a little bug (yes, sorry, I had to report it) : the beltbar texts are not redrawn correctly. FPS and Time show nicelyat first, but the updates are drawn on top of them, and they soon become unreadable. Not very important, but I can't report my FPS

hi there, this is my first post... i have been using LJP 1.0 rc2 (and originally LJZ). i have a Tapwave Zodiac1. i use lightspeed to overclock LJP to 225mhz and it does help. i have 10mb+ free space on my internal memory.
great work on an exceptional and ambitious peice of software!
LJP 1.0rc2 runs much better than the LJZ version i was using. i noticed that the hardware renderer was gone from the SNES module. but i soon realized that the software renderers in the new version were much faster. music was better, but not perfect (SNES). are there any plans to optimize the SNES module further? the music in any game (super mario et al), dont play properly (even with frameskip set to auto). the music is one of the best parts of those games! having a perfect snes emulator for the zodiac is the killer app we need!
also, what optimizations can be made for the zodiac? i miss the landscape menu/GUI personally. anyway that could be brought back?
i have had some random crashes (freezes) with rc2. i was playing Mario Tennis (GBC) and a mario game for NES (cant remember each one) and the system just froze. soft reset fixes the problem.
also, for atari 2600 roms, i noticed that the .a26 extension wont work?
again, awesome work! keep it coming!

I can confirm that it doesn't work on the NX60 either (which is basically the same device than the NX70, only without the camera)

That sucks. powerfulrez & Kraigel, did you remove the previous version of LJP before you installed this one? Hopefully this will fix the problem.

I can confirm that behaviour on a Clie NX80v: Here's what I did: - Hard reset the system. (Clean sheet!) - Set system dates and so on. - Install LJP PSI installer from MS - Run LJP - Double click on 'unarchived' - Select ROM (NES: 1942, a boy and his blob) - Launch - Crash!
I've also tried using MCA2 (palm sound API emulator for v5.o CLIE), it doesn't change anything.

Apologies on double posting but I'm sure this might be relevant to all PalmOS users having problems with LJP, not just those with a TREO (originally posted in thread "Treo 650 - What did I do wrong?)
Hi all - Im new to all this 'little johhny' emulator stuff but 1st off want to thank the author for this awesome software. Amazing it will emulate so many consoles and such a tiny app.
Anyway I recently installed the latest version "1.0 RC2" and, at first, it seemed to work fine (although I hadn't installed any roms yet).
Then- I installed some Gameboy roms, only about 5 or so... works great.
Then I thought I'd install some NES roms... like ALL 900+ of them on a memory card. This is where problems arose. From then on, all I could do is start LJP, then any interface navigating ie: switching from NES to GB, or selecting 'config' or whatever... would cause a reset. I couldnt do anything at all without LJP resetting itself.
I tried everything mentioned on these lists, reinstall etc. incompatabilies with ither apps...but nothing worked (yes I did do a correct reinstall).
But eventually I DID find out how to fix it! I simply removed all my NES roms....weird.
Then I tried installing them a few at a time. Works! Installed even more (about 50) still works!
There is the occassional rom that will cause LJP to crash. Restart the Treo...and there are a few strange roms ion my NES list now--- theyre in GREEN and contain weird ASCII characters. Of course at this stage nothing works again, so.............
Move ALL the roms out of the NES roms folder, then install them back in a few at a time.
It's clear to me that this release (possible older ones as well) has a problem with either; a) large rom lists (over 100) b) does not handle corrupted roms properly c) possible naming convention problem
Definaltely one or more of those three but I javent more time to test further.
So hopefully I have provided a temp fix for those in the same boat (Ive seen a few here) and some info for the author.
Cheers, Furious.
p.s. my Palm Device stats;
Treo 650, unlocked 17+ free device RAM between 4.8-5.0 free heap RAM 1 GIG SD ram card.

I have been using the new version since it came out and am still getting a lot of Fatal Errors using my Zodiac 2. It's usually when you try to exit LJP, but sometimes it lets you exit but will then error when you next go into it and try to load a game. I was wondering if you had any idea what the problem may be and if there was any indication when a fix may be available?
Once into a game everything is working fine. Great program.

It's giving random fatal errors to people... not good. Bad memory code somewhere I bet.
The problem being, it could be ANYwhere.

Fatal errors must depend on the device is being used. On my Zire72 I get maybe 1 fatal error for every 50-60 Roms I load and play (playing mainly SNES). I would say that's pretty d**n good. I was shocked at the stability of version 0.9.2T on my Zire (very stable compared to other devices I read on these forums), but RC1.0 has increased stability even more. That's for all modules that I've tested, which is all of them except for SMS.
In fact the only problem I've had is getting consistent sound in some very few Genesis Roms. Tweaking the settings often helps except for Vectorman 1&2, Garfield, Doom Troopers and a couple others. These usually give me sound to start and then the odd beep or chirp as I play on. All others are good for sound.
AND SNES is pretty much perfection!!!
GREAT JOB.

Argh - I loved Little John Z on my Zodiac, but my LifeDrive just hates it (LJP, not LGZ). It resets the system if I load an NES ROM more complicated than Excitebike, change game systems, even mess around in the config menu (always a crash in MemoryMgr.c, such as Line 3877, Invalid chunk ptr). But Excitebike seems to run well! Just gotta install LifeKeys for it, and change the button layout.

i don't know whether the game's "save" file can be universal used by other emulator on PC or not. I've 2 save files of the GENS game "phantasy star 4", one is "phantasy star 4.gs0", the other is "phantasy star 4.srm", though the extension name is the same as the emulator "GENS v2.00(PC MD emulator)", but the file can't be used by it.
can any body tell me how to transform them into the format that "GENS v2.00(PC MD emulator)" can recognize them?
BTW, can LJP's game's save file universal be used by other emulators that on PC. But I think that's hard because of so many different type emulators. I think that make some transforming tools is good.

I had problems with my clie nx70 causing reset everytime I launched a game (gameboy color game). Anyway, I boiled it down to the sound being enabled. When I disable the sound, the games launch. When the sound is enabled (regardless of setting - sim or any khz setting. I have MCA2.0.5 and have tried the various settings there as well is disabling it. No matter what, as long as the LJP sound config is on - causes reset. Also, perhaps I am missing something, but I don't see any beltbar either (would I know it if I saw it?).

@ shermanscs: Have you been able to load ROMS from other emulators (NES, SNES) even with sound off?

Kraigel, I have also been able to get NES games to work, but similar to my experience with gameboy emulator, I had to have sound off. Also, when I quit to launcher from NES emulator, it causes a reset condition.

Actually, Let me revise my experience with NES emulation. Sound works!! Using MCA2.05 and 22khz setting in the config. no success with gameboy sound though.

shermanscs,
can you post how you got everything to work? i tried hard reset and can't even get snes to work on my nx70... even with sound off... do i need mca2.05 to be installed even though i don't need the sound?

Post by shermanscs on Aug 29, 2005 2:25:11 GMT 1
okay..now I get gb with sound also on my nx70. Here's the deal...
1) I moved the roms that I had in the gb/roms directory to a new directory (just to hold them)
2) I completely removed all traces of the ljp beta. All directories, files, everything. Did this with the built in file utility.
3) I downloaded the PSI installer and hotsyncd to my memory stick
4) I ran the LJP installer from the palm
5) I have MCA2.05 installed and enabled for LJP (which it is by default, if you have MCA2 installed and you have not explicitly indicated to disable)
6) copy the rom file(s) I saved into the palm/programs/ljp/gb/roms directory
7) launch jlp. select "other" from the menu. go to Misc and uncheck "show framerate" and uncheck "show beltbar" (seems that if beltbar is checked, it causes a reset)
8) go back to the browser and select "GB" (assuming gameboy emulation).
9) choose config. Then choose "input". select a key and ckick "assign". Then click the hard button to indicate which you want to use for that key. Repeat for all assignments
10) select "video". I have smoothing off, display size Full.X2(Hi+)
11) select "audio". Set Vol to about 15. Set sound "on". Set freq to 22khz. (sound set to above 15 will give you a substantial clicking sound).
12) choose "browser" to get back to launcher, then launch game
That should do it. Give it a shot and let me know how you make out.

And use smoothing AdvMAME and LQ2X are fast and look so much better than original 2X. (unless they crash you of course )

Playing metal slug for NGP was sluggish. I turned on mame smoothing (which seemed to make it faster!?) and set the frameskip to 3 (anymore and it gets skippy) and now it runs close enough to full speed that I can't tell the difference, and I don't even notice the frameskip.

Hi, First thank you for a great emulator, it brings me much joy. Now to the serious stuff, it leaks memory. On my T3 without UDMH I get consecutive leaks just by entering the browser and exiting. Playing GB games like Mickey's Racing Adventure will result in massive leaks of 1- 4 MB and if I go on playing other GB games as well I will end up with no free memory left, and I will need to do a soft reset. Free memory reported by Palm Launcher: Before playing 9.2 Mb After 5 minutes of GB playing = 8.2 Mb. Afer 5 seconds of launching another GB game and exit = 7.2 Mb. And so forth. It indicates to me that there is some massive memory leak that needs attention here.
Keep up the good work

sorry to tell you guys that rc2 is not working on my nx70... can any nx70 owners confirm this? i always get fatal exception after launching or loading a rom powerfulrez: Did you try defragmenting? Backup, hard reset, restore - seems to have helped me - check the faq for other info. On my NX70, LPJ 1.0 RC2 runs well with sound. I've tried various roms for the NES, SNES, GB, GENS, SMS, and GG. The emu works well with the following exceptions: - sound in the GB module still has the "TAK, TAK" background sound - as another poster has termed it. - Accessing the GUI, and then exiting - back to the game, to the launcher, or resetting - always gives me a Fatal Exception. I'm using UDMH 3.0, and MCA 2.05. UDMH shows 13.65Mb Free space, and 9.68Mb Max chunk size. To the LJP Team: thanks... amazing work really.
