I'm using the new palm centro and was hoping to play some classic games using LJP. I've got everything installed and have loaded an snes rom successfully. My problem is that there are a lot of keys not working for keymappings. For example, only the down button works as far as the directional keys go (tried mapping the others to no avail). I have been able to map the phone, app, calander, and email key without a problem. Another problem is that when you press any directional button right after opening LJP it results in a reset. My way around this was using touch screen to navigate.
I am guessing these problems can be fixed with a few tweaks, and i'm sure me and the other centro owners out there would be eager to get a version of this amazing program that supports our phones!

How stupid, where the heck can I find out *useful* specs for this thing? They don't even put the CPU speed there, must be something small like 200 MHz.
metaview, anywhere we can find real specs and/or coding guidelines for the thing?

Haven't been able to find the important stuff yet though.
[edit] After scouring PDN, it appears that they don't actually have all the documentation up yet -- the API they point to is for the previous version, not the Centro (sort of like how it took them 7 MONTHS to get all the T|X data online)

Well, I don't expect any documented difference between Centro and any other Treo device, like 680 or 755p. The LED isn't really controllable (only green), just like the other current devices.

Sounds like they've changed the button signals, however.

Yes, and I wonder if our Treo keyboard code works as well. And how does the small menu button work?
I find a crash by pressing a directional button pretty weird.
The thing looks reasonably nice though. Might end up getting one when/if it gets here, if it's as cheap as out there.

ya, too bad no GSM version.. yet. skyghene, you'll have to let us know how that d-pad works out for you once its working. it doesn't seem like its going to be as comfortable to use as the current 680-like d-pad

Why should they change the button-code? LJP just doesn't recognize a Treo device, that's all

Well, they did something with the D-Pad...

Well, what? Doesn't it send RockerEvents/RockerBits anymore?

Didn't he say the D-Pad is making LJP crash in the launcher, and is not mappable?

Actually today I got the D-pad working. For some reason when I was changing the mappings it wasn't sticking. I erased the ljp.ini and all I had to do was map the left and right d-pad. It defaulted to navright and navleft. Pressing dpad left and right changed it to rockerleft and rockerright. Up and down defaulted to pageup and pagedown and those seem to be working just fine with the d-pad. Also the crash hasn't been happening any more. I'm not sure what was causing that problem. So after a little tweaking it seems to be working pretty well. The only button, aside from the keyboard, that isn't doing anything at all in the mappings is the green phone answer key.

Under www.metaviewsoft.de/ljp.zip is a rc9 which should work on the Centro. Please try it and tell me how it works for you. There is also the 2 player code to test in NES. It needs a BT gamepad for player 2 and player one on the device keys.

hows the game play and ease of use with the new phone? It seems to work pretty well once you get the controls set up some way you can get used to. I got em set up with start and select as the phone and calender button (my thumb reachs over those so they are hard to hit during gameplay). For the rest of the buttons i use the stuff on the right side of the keyboard (app button, mail button, red power button, and the button on the center of the dpad) i change the config of those depending on the game. With this setup its manageable to use. Once more keys are available it should be much better. will be nice to be able to map L and R somewhere, heh. I havent tried many games just yet.. also the only emus i tried so far have been SNES and NES. NES is perfect as expected, SNES is kinda shaky right now. It will require tweaking to get it to full speed on some games (that was expected also). I'm guessing performance is equal to treo 700p and 755p. For stuff other than LJP i love it. It's much smaller than treos. For the price ($99) its a no brainer. The keyboard is small but its very easy to use. I type one handed on it using my thumb without problem. screen is a little bit smaller but still the same resolution. Because of this it looks a little more sharp. Aside from that its basically just a small treo. Same os, few more added programs. I'll report back once i try more games/systems and do some tweaking to the processor and stuff.

Unfortunately the touch screen freezes all games or reboots computer, furthermore keyboard does not work at all for config. Also, I have been told atari2600 games work but apparently they do not.
Do you guys and/or gals know when a new version and/or fixed version for CENTRO will be released?
:o ::) :'( >:(

The new version for Centro is working great for me so far. I mapped 4 buttons on the keyboard and they are all working great. I even tried mapping the directional keys on the keyboard just to test it more and it worked fine. The green button and the side volume/customizable buttons are all working with ljp now also. Thanks very much for the update and I'll be sure to post if i run into any problems with it.

Has anyone got SNES to work on the centro with LJP and UDMH? I've tried 6 games and they all mostly just power cycle my device or give me an error message.

The earlier version reset the device when pressing the home button. Make sure you have the RC9 version - www.metaviewsoft.de/ljp.zip . RC9 Works like a charm on my wife's Centro. Great app! Thanks!

yea, i'm getting a problem where my buttons are not mapping correctly. i'm using rc9, and roms load fine, but it seems like the key bindings are all messed up.
for example. when i bind a button to X, that button will actually perform the Frameskip function. If i bind a button to frameskip it performs the load state function.
the program recognizes all of the keys correctly, but they do not represent their bound functions once the rom is loaded.
i installed rc9 ontop of rc7, so i'm formatting my memory card and reinstalling to see if that fixes the issue.

This issue has always been there; it has something to do with save states. To return sound to games, I found I had to restore save state, save game in-game (all with sound turned on), restart, load saved game (no save state). After this, save states work again (sound just gets disabled in the previous save state for some reason).

Hi, LJP is great application. I love it, of course.
RC9 needs to much memory, I suppose. So, my Centro coverd with Japanese layer cannnot run snes on LJP RC9.
Please make RC8+key assignment version for Centro.

5 MB max chunk dyn. memory might be enough, but just try UDMH to see if it works better then. If it helps, then you could try to get a bigger free dyn. mem chunk. Tried a reset before? Do you use any backgorund pictures? background apps?
