i decided to start an rc9 thread so that info about it isnt going to other various threads.. looks good so far, but the bar that highlights the selected game now makes it hard to read the name of the selected game... www.metaviewsoft.de/Files/ljp.zip

We should probably have a link to 1.0RC9 in this thread... of course, that link is to Henk's latest build, so when RC10 comes out, that won't point to RC9 anymore.

I've updated it again (11:40 PM MEZ). I still think I should add more into a rc9. And maybe should call it 1.0 final ones ;D

I tested RC9 and quickly switched back to RC8. Problems with RC9: Needs WAY more RAM for SNES emulator. Button mapping is all out of order, meaning I couldn't use my previous button mapping configuration for most of the modules.
RC9 runs a little faster than RC8 in-game, but otherwise it seems more like a downgrade. I think you guys are doing a great job. RC8 is brilliant. I hope you can fix these problems with RC9 so that it's actually BETTER than RC8.

Ah, right, I've added some stuff from a the latest Snes9x to increase compatibility. Haven't noticed any higher memory consumption. Well, I need to check it. The controls are in a ifferent order now, right. You would need to reassign them.

Hmm... does that mean it can do inline ips and decompressed ROM integration now? Thanks for adding the extra bits!

A good idea with any new version is to delete your ljp.ini and any other .ini files you might have in there as they're usually not compatible from one version to the next and break things more often than not. It's really not that difficult to reassign button mappings, especially when it means great new features!
Thanks Metaview! I haven't had a chance to check this version out yet but will as soon as I get off work this evening.

The button mapping issue is acceptable. Count Buggula, you need to understand something: This is basically a kind of faster version of RC8 with the Game Genie menu removed. I have no clue if the features Metaview added are obvious. Apparently the cartridges should be more compatible for this new version though. Oh yeah, I forgot another issue: Compatibility. I tried to load Kirby Superstar and the game detected a non-controller peripheral (SuperScope, Mouse, etc.) and wouldn't let me play. This means that games that detect said controllers but don't use them can't be played. I don't know if you have had any memory issues Metaview, but I play LJP on a Tungsten E|2, and with RC8, I just barely make it with my available RAM (about 9,700,000 with the DB Cache cleared) but can play the games PERFECTLY. However, in RC9, If I can get a SNES game running, it gives me an "ok" dialog after I open the menu, an indicator that I'm low on RAM.
I hope this isn't annoying you. I know LJP is more of a hobby for you than a main project.

Well, as I wrote, I didn't notice the bigger memory consumption. but I will check it later. What is Kirby Superstar? Give me an hint. I never had a console (except this stupid CD32 thingy). Tell me at lest which system I have to look for.

Kirby Superstar is the United States version of the game Kirby Super Deluxe. It's a SNES game that was released somewhat late during the time SNES was still in the market. It has the File extention .smc If you want to test the game yourself, it's ESA-Protected (illegal to download the ROM unless, like me, you own a copy of the game).
By the way, thanks a lot for working on LJP in the first place, Metaview. It's really a brilliant work.

I'm not sure what you did Henk, but I just tried the latest version of RC9, and the hardbutton mapping is all messed up. In SNES, I have the following:
HB Act Actual Act ----------------------------------- PhoneBk A Start (I think) Calendar B Select (I think) S.TopR Start Start S.TopL Select Select PageUp Up Quickload PageDown Down Quicksave RockerLt Left Turbo RockerRt Right Screen Mode RockerCt Turbo Unknown Memo X A ToDo Y B S.BottomL L X S.BottomR R Down Power Panic Unknown
Hmm... CODE tags don't seem to do what they're supposed to on here. Oh well.
NES works fine; I can test others if you'd like. SNES is really broken now however.

Have you reassigned them?

|
|
Post by _Em on Nov 6, 2007 17:13:25 GMT 1
Yes; I've tried with the default values and with them reassigned, and the actual actions don't line up in either case (and stay the same no matter what I do). I've cleared out all my INI files as well, but that made no difference.

Sounds like you don't have .zem and .prc in sync. Can you control volume using the Treo volume keys? Next update will bump the internal versions inside the zem files.

Well, I'm running this on a TX, so I don't have volume keys; it sounds like the SNES .zem file might not be in sync in your latest download zip.

That's the ticket Works fine now. Regarding kbd2 though: Still does nothing in SNES (the hardbuttons work instead), In NES, I pressed the 'A' key to start a game, and it started infinitely cycling through screen modes instead. The input problem still exists as well, where no matter how fast I tap a key on the keyboard, it still sometimes assigns the key to multiple actions.

I'm experienceing the same problem as _Em. It almost appears that the configuration for SNES is incorrect how the bluetooth gamepad configuration used to be, which is weird because the bluetooth gamepad is perfect now. I used the link in the beginning of the thread to download rc9 just a few minutes ago, so is there a more up to date link to fix this? Thanks.

Also I just noticed that sound is not working on gameboy, and when I try to exit a gameboy game it just freezes up causing me to have to remove the battery.

vegaman: It works now for _Em and me in SNES. What's the device you use? About the gameboy, right I noticed some issue on exit too. Didn't find the time to investigate.

I use a 700p. Maybe I just need to redownload it and try again. Are you experiencing no sound in gameboy too, or is it just me?
