Hello again. SOme news who might be interesting for some I'm currently building my all-new-prc-tools-toolchain so I can finally start doing cool stuff for the PalmOS port. I got that SDL port thing and got it compiled, but... it crashed when ran! Yep, it seems I have to build from source new versions of gcc and binutils. So, there I went, and that should take one more day at least, since I'm compiling gcc for an hour already and no sign of it nearing completion (note: I have to compile everything twice: for 68K and ARM. SO far it's only starting to compile arm-gcc) In any case, it shouldn't be needed to update the toolchain to develop non-SDL stuff, but I want to get that SDL framework working since it uses PEAL and that cool ARM stuff (including a 90% complete libc, which for you mortals, means "port anything without having to change a lot of stuff to boring PalmOS-specific function calls"). Although IMO that libc still has some limitations (it only searches for files in one volume), so I'm most likely going to improve it so it has what I want for LJX

including a 90% complete libc that's cool, so they made a port of the libc, but just to manage to port the sdl, that should be a separate project, cause have a complete libc available for palmos apps would be a great advance. I'm currently building my all-new-prc-tools-toolchain I would like to know about this toolchain you're setting up, that may come useful to me.

It just compiled for me. I just had to change something in the Klimt vec4 header file, but that was probably because the author used gcc 4 and I was using the original 3.x from prc-tools. However, as I said, the app crashed Be sure to have the PalmOS and Palm latest SDKs installed. I had to do some copy-paste'ing with Palm's headers so it could find HsChars.h as well

o yeah, btw, do you have any idea on what you want the interface of the launcher to be like?

Something similar in functionality to the PSP's XMB. Maybe closest thing would be SnesPSP_TYL's interface. Now for the good news--I've finally managed to get the entire SDL-peal-cool thing going, so next step is... Hah, guessed wrong. Next step is making Code::Blocks compile for PalmOS Then I'll be starting work on a PalmOS version of the emulator framework. (didn you think I'd manage like 300 files in TextPad?) I'll post updates soon

What platform have you compiled your PalmGCC framework for? I'd definitely be interested in being able to play with it as I have some other SDL stuff that it'd be nice to port to PalmOS.

Cygwin. But the steps are the same, I guess... Now, it seems getting C::B to do its magic might turn out to be harder than I thought. I mean, I'd want it to generate a Makefile with all the files to be compiled and stuff, but there's so many more involved in generating a .prc with a 68k and ARM part loaded by peal... my other option is using a custom Makefile, but then again, that might not be so useful

beside of the sdl thing that i'd like to study, I'd really like to get my C::B compiling for PalmOS, that's something I should start to research and work on now.

Personally i've managed to compile the toolchain under linux (ubuntu and debian [although they're nigh identical]) and have never found any problems. Except with a lot of headers (i'm suprised you only had to change one....

I just had an idea. Can you make the interface kindof like henk's 2cool4u? it allows to scroll up and down easily. So, you could like scroll through which consoles you want to enter(it hows a picture of the console next to name) and then you enter the launcher for that specific console, it has the preferences, the roms, the save states(if you are going to do what phoinix did-allowed more than one save state to llow going back or forth)and yablablah...it's like a paradise.
*yesh, yesh.....

Well, Metaview should be able to make an interface like that

. . . Or you could have a pop down list on the side, with buttons underneath it, and a low-res picture of the module underneath the buttons, and an about box that doesn't work and call it 'LJP'. . . oh wait, that's been done Actually, snestyl's interface looks pretty cool! And like a PSP's

i just had another idea to add my to my list...there could be a sidebar on the left that shows the last ten games u have played so you can immeadiately enter it with out having to change the console.

Hey! Here's your not-so-frequent update status. I've given up on C::B compiling for me, so just got myself a Makefile done (after 30 minutes of copy-pasting filenames) and ta-da!, it compiles. Problem is, it crashes gracefully as soon as (OK, 1 second after) it's executed Now, that might give me a really hard time since I canot really debug since I don't have a serial cable So that'll probably come down to showing messages in the screen and "wait for tap" like we always used to do. I'll be sure to keep you guys informed about how well it goes over the day!

News: managed to get some debugging text to draw, so I can more or less track the crashing now. Unfortunately my battery dried so it will have to wait since I can borrow a charger again
