clievideo.com -Lightspeed Tried it and works reliably. It supports the Treo 700, 755, 680, and Centro. There is a 14 day trial period. I've been waiting for a overclocking utility for quite some time now and was expecting PXA clocker or Dmitry's warpspeed to be the first to offer. This was a pleasant surprise.

Amazing! I'm able to overclock my 755 to 520mhz (over 200mhz increase!) and the difference is incredible! I can play quake for the first time perfectly smoothly, and SNES games with sound at decent framerates! I haven't tried pushing it any higher than that yet. If I do I'll be sure to let you know!
I'll use the trial for a few more days and them I'm sure I'll be purchasing it...possibly for my wife's 700p as well (she's addicted to FFVI).
Edit: Bumped it up to 624mhz for zQuake. Ran without problems, silky smooth. I didn't play it long, just watched the demo for a few minutes. I don't know what kind of battery life I'd get at that speed or how hot it would get, but obviously the newer Treos have some serious overclocking potential.

I might just have to re-install the PalmPSX emulator and see what she'll do...

I might just have to re-install the PalmPSX emulator and see what she'll do... oooo i never thought of that! I still dont quite believe that the higher CPU settings are actually working... the 416 I can buy.. the 500+ i dont know yet.

Let us know how PalmPSX goes! and if you could please post a link to where I can download?

looks like PalmPSX v0.6 crashes my phone (even without using lightspeed).. so that doesnt work well. course i only have 1 psx rom and it could be completely fux0rd

Who knows what version that might be. I'll get around to doing a decent (working) psx4palm port as well once I get my Palm dev environment setup.

ya.. i love how programmers dont put versions in their programs I downloaded another one (the latest url on that one zodiac page).. but alas no version number anywhere to be found.. truly amazing.

well, programmers need versioners which may take care about this fact

I don't know if there's a newer version somewhere, but I installed the psx4palm version Tinnus gave me awhile back and had promising results. It still only plays the intro to the few games I tried (Suikoden got the farthest) but it was playing anywhere from 6 to 20 FPS with my overclocked Treo. With a few more optimizations and one or two frameskips, this could really be playable. I'm looking forward to that new version Tinnus.

Has anyone tried Firestorm yet to play GBA?

In order for GBA to be playable on Firestorm, you're going to need to overclock to around 800MHz.

I've been able to get fabulous performance with sound enabled (44khz even) by using the following settings on my 755:
Bus - 234, x2.5 = 585 CPU
I can use Display 1.25, Transparency, and Exact rendering, then set the Frame Skip to Auto. Everything except for FX games run full speed with no visible frame delay or skipping. FX games are still pretty slow, but that would be expected, and they come much closer to playable now with sound off.

However when i do get the program i shall go ahead and test out firestorm. I have it.(Yes I was one of he unlucky people who thought it would work and paid for it...)

Back then I overclocked my T3 to have a decent speed with the first Palm4PSX version, but still all games were unplayable. The farest thing was an old Final Fantasy part, I think it was V. It almost showed the complete intro, but it took a veeeerrryyy long time... ;-)
About Lightspeed: choose display frequency 133, that works best (because of some Palm hardware issues I can't explain).

It almost showed the complete intro, but it took a veeeerrryyy long time... ;-) I had subpar results even with overclocking back then too, but for some reason it works far better now. Seriously, full the intro movie for Suikoden plays as close to full speed as I can tell, and at decent framerates. I'm unable to get further than about 3 seconds into Castlevania SOTN, but I figure that's an emulation issue. I think it's worth looking at PSX emulation again. You're either thinking about pxaClocker or an older version of Lightspeed had that option, because it doesn't now.

Oh, right, it was PXAclocker... :-) Way better by the way, because of this setting. Only this makes your Palm (screen drawing routines) way faster.

In order for GBA to be playable on Firestorm, you're going to need to overclock to around 800MHz. Yeah, you were definitely right about Firestorm. Even overclocking to 516 it's only a slight improvement.

Wow this over clocker is amazing! I can finally play and listen to Chrono Trigger's music! And no, firestorm did not work. It just attempted to kill my palm, but my palm successfully came back to life(it did a soft reset). Anyway, When I am changing the preferences, I notice if you go to high the number gets red. I immeadiately backed down since I have been raised with the color red as "stop", but what does it actually symbol? That the palm might blow up? OR the battery may be drained to quickly?

you should get speedy www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/palm/4165 and then in lightspeed give speedy a high number like 585 and then run speedy to benchmark. you will notice that your CPU only goes up to a certain amount no matter what you set lightspeed to.. best I got was 492 (which is much better than 296). I stopped using lightspeed however, it would freeze my phone after a while of playing LJP

Interesting, overclocking an overclocking utility. The highest i got with lightspeed on firestorm and ljp was 585. Lightspeed has not crashed my palm yet though.

I wish somebody would make an open source (or at least freeware) overclocker... With one of those, plus MoreHeapHack, PalmOS gaming without shareware hacks would finally be possible...

PXA clocker doesn't work on anything newer than a Treo 650, and Warpspeed won't even run on anything newer than a 650 (device not supported error).
I had tried using PXA clocker on my 700p and 755, and it was extremely unstable. Plus, after experiencing Lightspeed, I realize any performance gains I had perceived with PXA clocker was due to placebo affect.

PXA Clocker works just fine on TXes and Lifedrives. It just doesn't work on any *Treo* later than a 650 -- and I presume he'll get it working eventually.

PXA clocker is free, and if you have a Zire 72 then you can use free clock. But light&warp speed are probably more stable to use. It doesn't work on the crappy old OMAP Palms that need over clocking the most, though

jeez, someone needs to make a free overclocker that works. Who could possibly make one? (HINT HINT, CODERS! HINT HINT)

I use TWO free overclockers that work.
I think you are under the impression that everyone uses the same device you do. Until the coders get their hands on the same hardware you're using (HINT HINT), you're not likely to see support for your device added to a free overclocker.
