goodall, when you talk about saving, you mean in game or save state? They are two different things. In game creates an .srm file in the saves directory on your memory card, and savestates create a .za0 file ( at least I think that is the extension.) The SRM file is what tells the game that you have saved, so when you go to the continue option in a game such as an rpg, then you see your character data. The Save state is used in the UI to create an instant save anywhere in game, loading this starts the game at that particular point, music and all.
And secret of mana will prolly always have the text errors due to the way square did it. someone else can be more specific.

manias: I tried deleting the program from my psp and completely re-instaling it. I'm using new save states and it still happens with every game all the time. I'm confused because it didn't use to do this and nothing has been changed in my PSP since then. Oh well, guess I'll have to save games the old fashioned way.

goodall, Use the "Fix HiRes Hidden Items" to correct that problem. However, like I stated earlier, the screen shakes when using the HiRes fix so it still doesn't quite fix the problem

Goody, does the save state show up on your memory card in the save folder as "romstitle".za0?

VERSION: 4.2 FIRMWARE: 2.6 LOADER: .96 Super Bock GTA Loader DETAILS: Here is a new one... The program was working fine for a week or so. I went to load it up the other day, and it got all the way to the opening screen that you have to read to continue. I scrolled down and hit X... It told me that my memory stick could not be read. I tried several times... Right before the ROM list, it crashes. When I explored my memory stick with my PC, I discovered that the SNES9x directory had become corrupt. All I do on my PSP as of late, is play SNES...

Firmware: 1.5 Snes9xTYL version: 1.4.2
Game: Big Sky Trooper
Problem: Sound disappears after loading a state, with no way of getting it back. Would use the ingame saves but it doesn't work (I've seen problems with the ingame save system of this game across many emulator, I think only recent zsnes got it working, so I wouldn't have expected it to work anyways.. it's the sound problem here)
Also, I noticed in 1.4.2's readme that the sound problem was supposedly supposed to be fixed, but I keep getting it across many games, such as Donkey Kong Country 3. In all other games, however, the sound is restored after a screen transition (where the music is supposed to change)

1.4.2 is fixed but savestates made by earlier versions are not. This is not completely true. Super Mario World (U) [!] ... Try this one. Sound disappears at load state, and yes the savestate is saved from same version. And yes, I am using 0.4.2me on a 1.5 PSP. Annoying, since this is the only game I really want to play

It's exactly as thewboy said, the save states were created by the very same version (1.4.2me on 1.5) I never even loaded the game(s) originally on any older versions

Version 0.4.2Me Firmware 1.0 Details: Secret of Evermore has some serious sound issues. There is a lot of chatter adn noise in the sounds. I understand that this is in part by the ME cross over, but it is more than normal.
Details: I think this has been mentioned, but I will mention it here too. After loading a load state, the sound cuts out until a new music track has been loaded then it works fine. This seems to be happening in Secret of Evermore, and Super Mario All Stars. I haven't found anywhere else it has happened. I will keep my eyes out for it.

Firmware 1.50
Game: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The sound when the boomerang hits an object is a high pitched "click". The last version where it was able to produce the correct sound was 0.1.

Version: 0.4.2 Standard Firmware: 2.6 using Eloader 0.96 Details: Star Ocean freezes as soon as I step out of the house to go on patrol with Dorn and Milly. Occurrence: Almost always, sometimes when I load another game or exit SNES9XTYL and start it again I get as far as receiving a letter from The Elder and as soon as I step out of the house to go to the Cool Village it freezes again and I can't past that.
Version: 0.4.2 Standard Firmware: 2.6 using Eloader 0.96 Details: Tales of Phantasia freezes as soon as I leave Totus with Chester to go hunting. Occurrence: Always and I can't get past that.

otherwise play it like a proper snes -> normal saves That is what I normally do, but the PSP was designed for portability, meaning save state could be very helpful for the "pick up and put down quickly" kinda thing the PSP was designed for... And also like I said, the in-game save feature doesn't work for Big Sky Trooper

i still have problems with the save states. im not loading old savestates, i completely deleted my entire memstick and started over just see if i was doing something wrong. and the sound is still an issue for most, not all games. i just tend not to use save states. or when i have to i just wait till i can save the sram and reload the rom and it works fine. im using .4.2 me on a 1.5.
