Although this is the LJP forum and I love LJP so much ;D, there are other (great) emulators for the Palm OS platform, some which I'd like to list here because: - The system you're looking at is not in LJP but is in one of these; - The feature(s) you're looking at is not in LJP but is in one of these; - If for any reason you don't want to use LJP; - Just so you know what's out there; - Because there are commercial emulators out there, some better than LJP, which is free, and theese emulators may be worth the money. List follows (separated by company/individual) - Kalemsoft[/u] - www.kalemsoft.com- NesEm (NES) - Gizmo Ultra (SMS/GG) - Dream Engine (PCEngine/TG16) - GBulator (GB/GBC) The kalemsoft emulators have some nice features including game genie and multiplayer over BT/Wi-Fi for some of them. They also are known for having very good customer support. - Crimsonfire[/u] - www.crimsonfire.com- Firestorm gbaZ (GB/GBC/GBA) Good enough emulator for GB/GBC and a pity for GBA. GBA is too slow for most games and devices, although some might be playable. It's Crimsonfire we're talking about though, so be sure to try out before buying! - Codejedi[/u] - www.codejedi.com- GuineaPig (Genesis/SMS/GG/TG16/Atari 2600) Free emulator by skeezix. The SMS/GG part is exactly the same as LJP (thanks skeezix!) although there are some nasty bugs (SMS doesn't work right and both crash for anything with horizontal scrolling). Genesis is descended from the same core (Genesis+) but some people prefer GuineaPig. Worth checking. TG16 is a little buggy and for Atari it's the only one around for now so enjoy - CaSTaway/Palm (Atari ST) - Columbo (Colecovision) Two more free emulators from skeezix. Never used them myself but people say CaSTaway is great. Dunno about Columbi but it's the only Colecovision emulator around. - Bodo Wenzel[/u] - phoinix.sourceforge.net/- Phoinix (GB) One of the first emulators for PalmOS, runs on anything above OS3. - Gambit Studios[/u] - www.gambitstudios.com/- Liberty (GB) - "Freedom" (GB/GBC) Liberty is among the first emulators for PalmOS, runs on anything above OS3. "Freedom" (temporary name) is not yet released but promises perfect GBC emulation for OS5 devices (and reports say it's bloody fast). - Mobile Wizardry[/u] - www.mobilewizardry.com/- Atari Retro (Atari 2600) Commercial Atari 2600 emulator. Can only play the 7 games that come bundled with it. Another list, a little outdated, may be found here: www.palmsource.com/interests/emulators/

It seems amazing to me how well LJP works on my PDA. To the layman such as myself, I would think that NES, SNES, Genesis games would be harder to emulate than some games such as Pac-Man and Asteroids. Perhaps since Palm Mame was derived from Mame CE which, in turn, derived from Mame v0.36, maybe that is why the games can not run as well on PDA's (at least with sound. What is being done differently with LJP that makes it run the console games so well?

Here's an idea, reversing the train of thought: a PC version on LJP, or does that already exist...

Most modules of LJP are derived from PC emulators... except GB and NES I think. SNES: Snes9x Genesis: Genesis Plus SMS/GG: SMS Plus
Wonderswan and NGP are ported from GP32 native emus too but I believe there are other good emulators for those systems available as well.

If you can't find anything about it, could be they were pulling your leg. Out of all the posts on that link, there was only one mentioning the palm version.

Hey all, ...wow, it's been way too long since I've posted here... anyway, I did some intensive investigating into Tomb Raider for Palm OS (and by intense I mean spent two minutes on google ), here's what I found: Tomb Raider on the Zodiac Posted on Monday, November 22 2004
Tapwave's intriguing Zodiac handheld has bolstered its increasingly credible games line up today with the announcement of Tomb Raider Zodiac, an exclusive handheld incarnation of the Tomb Raider franchise. Set for debut in spring 2005, placing it well ahead of the next console version of the Tomb Raider franchise currently under development at Crystal Dynamics, Tomb Raider Zodiac will apparently use a custom 3D game engine to take advantage of the Zodiac's ARM9 processor, ATI graphics accelerator and hi-res handheld display.
Ms Croft's newest incarnation also boasts a brand new character model, the usual set of lavish locations (which are yet to be confirmed) and should involve the usual winning mix of action and athletic puzzle solving.
Eidos are promising one of "Lara's greatest adventures yet", a consummation devoutly to be wished after the debacle which was Angel of Darkness.
"We have been very impressed by the Zodiac and Tapwave's understanding of what makes a good Tomb Raider game," said Simon Protheroe, Eidos' director of new media and online technologies. "Tomb Raider for the Zodiac will be a valuable new addition to the franchise."
"Like the Zodiac, Tomb Raider is truly multimedia," adds Byron Connell, founder and SVP Marketing, Tapwave. "Tomb Raider began life as a game, and evolved into two movies, a couple of original soundtracks and several books - four formats, among many, the Zodiac handles with style. We're delighted to be working with Eidos on a Zodiac version of Tomb Raider, and we're confident it will be the best handheld incarnation to date."at: ngage.dcemu.co.uk/index9.shtmlthe port is also mentioned as an "upcoming title" from a review of the zodiac at: www.mobiletechreview.com/Tapwave_Zodiac.htmboth of these are around a year old now, so whether or not tomb raider is still in the works or it got cancelled a while back, I have no idea, especially considering the Zodiac is no longer being sold through tapwave. Still, it'd be nice to see the game on Palm OS, even though I only have a T3 and not a Zodiac...

I don't believe an official port for PalmOs is near. And you'd have to pay for it even if you had the original. There might be... other means of playing TR on PalmOS though. PLEASE don't ask me about them... yet.

Why do you say things like that? Is it just to keep me obsessed with checking these forums everyday?
Always something new around here, can't wait.

I do think that Tomb Raider has gone the same way as most official ports and has been cancelled. I don't actually think they got very far into it as the only screen shot was the Pocket PC version which would look nothing like the Zodiac version.

Well, isnt there a PSX version of this game? And if I'm not mistaken, PSX emulation on Palm OS is not entirely a stretch since it's already done on the PPC???

I'll put this link here to get the topic of Palmmame out of 'LJP To-Do-List'. Here is the link to Palmmame v0.12.8 complete with screen scaling and key configuration. As of today there is a memeory leak using UDMH, however, Vilmos has indicated that he will fix that ASAP. Enjoy!

I guess I should have included this link as well www.pocketdimension.com/PalmMAME.html (I sure hope this one works. ) This page doesn't have the most recent version right now but Vimos should be adding it pretty soon.

I don't know if this is useful for you, but here's a link to the finalburn web site; on his mobile page he has source code for both his 68k engine and picodrive, a genesis emulator for PPC. www.finalburn.com/index.html

i couldnt believe this stuff's free!!! thanks and keep up the good work!!! i feel like an idiot buying kalemsoft's products, LJP is leaps and bounds ahead. i have a T|2 and im playing genesis games on it (sonic 2 and SF2 turbo), no sound of course and with the help of UDMH and warpspeed!!! with more polishing, this will be the emulator where all emulators will be judged upon!!!

Kalemsoft products are very well coded, i really like their product and still use them for sms and especially dream engine. LJP is a great piece of code but do not understimate other products because they are not free
