PalmMAME is good enough... and there is no weighty reasons (i guess) to remake it just because the rom versions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tinnus have you seen the source code of PalmMAME maybe you could help making the scaling code, currently not available.

I don't want to really get into PalmMAME 1) because I NEED to do Duke before people throw stones at me, 2) I'm not really intereested in it so no personal motivation and 3) it's Vilmos work Altough I'll talk with him about scaling. The Scale2xSaI filter is BEAUTIFUL for scaling, up and down, although slow for upscaling. But it's bettern than nothing for fast games I guess.

Its very egoist but i prefer our Tinnus working on ljp only to make us a better emu (which is already good, but things can only get better) instead of working on 10 000 different progs, finishing none of them so we finally only have bits of emus and not a good working one... More over, Duke Nukem is such a great project to "port" on our palm, ljp have many different emu to set and make fully work... i'm pretty sure that takes lots of Tinnus time Again, thanks for the great work you did on the Yoyo continuation Tinnus.

I agree. I think Tinnus and Yoyo are doing a fantastic job. I too can't wait for Duke 3D, but that will be something to look forward to in the future while where having fun with the next version of LJP.

He has done a great job. I just wondered if a fresh look would help the project along. I wish I knew something about this stuff to help, but alas, I can only play the games and programming is not my speciality. Thanks for the great work on LJP. Looking forward to RC1.

New version (12.8) with screen scaling and key configuration just out today on Palmmame. Vilmos is doing fine work, but these things take time. Screen scaling works great especially on older games. Newer/larger games suffer from a little slow down. Key config also working on my Zire72. Go get it in the Palmmame forums at Pocket Dimensions. I think any more talk of Palmmame ought to go in 'Other Emulators' or 'General Talk'.

I posted the link to Palmmame v0.12.8 in the topic 'Other Emulators'. I felt it was more appropriate there. The first link directly to the zip file won't work off this server so I posted a second link to the Pocket Dimensions download page for the latest version of Palmmame. Good luck.

I read in the forums that Yoyo is currently back to coding for LJP (I guess after working on other projects). Has he given any kind of approximation when the TG16 module might be up and running? Just wondering.

Yes, the plan is we port another emulator because the original one (the one in LJZ) is quite buggy. I don't know if he's doing that currently though, I suppose it could be done for RC2.

As the settings in LJP greatly affect the playability of a game, e.g. some games need sound turned on, others may need frameskip changing. Would it be possible to somehow save different settings for each ROM, so once set up you can choose your favourite game and just play without having to remember which settings are best before launching?

That's a cool idea. I might have a greater desire to play Super Mario RPG then.

That's a very wanted feature, the only drawback I see is the space that would be needed to store all the settings.
I guess I'll take a look...

Maybe you could set it up so games use the default settings unless the user makes a special config for a game that could be saved.

I previously mentioned having a compatibility list for which games work on LJP. Perhaps this could be also contain the best settings for the game. This would save everybody having to figure out the settigns themselves.

Not a good idea, best settings depend on the device too. Only stuff like C/ASM core is exclusively game-dependant. The rest is personal preference mostly.

Here's a pretty picky suggestion, but it'd be nice if there were a little blue circular "shadow" under the little LJP man icon, so that it matched all the other palm icons.
Not, obviously, the biggest deal tho, I just think of it everytime I see the icon.

regarding treo keyboard support:
The buttons I'm most interested in are the menu and home buttons at the top of the keypad. Are these hardware buttons or "emulated buttons" like the rest of the keyboard? I just have not found a great way to do the three button genesis thing, or the left and right buttons on snes, and those buttons would be GREAT!
There is a add in for onboardC that I was playing with called GUI rapid development or something. It comes with an app called guiTester that has a little section to give you codes for keypresses. It shows a code for every button on the keyboard, including the side rocker buttons on the treo. It might be worth looking at the source for that program to see how they do it??
I can send you the source for it if you think it might help....

Nope, it probably just reports the codes for KeyDown events. On the other hand, MetaView was recently playing with some code to check keyboard keys directly (only for Treo though).

Thats the same thing I had in mind. Use the default config unless you check a "use game config" button.

If you do let us save different settings for each game/system please also let us save the key configuration especially for snes and genesis for almost every game I have to go in and change around the key's Man this would be a really great feature I hope it comes to light ;D

I hope the memory issue Tinnus mentioned can be resolved, b/c I compltely agree with your point here. Every SNES game pretty much requires a different key config.
If it would take too much memory to do one for each game, perhaps they could make a feature where you could set up 4 or 5 different "quick key configs" that you can switch between on the belt bar.
That's a pretty good idea, don't you think?

Oh, also, the the keyboard thing for treo would resolve the above problem as well. Please keep us updated on MetaView's efforts!

Like others, I would love to see support for MAME. Would a donation help expedite this? =)
Ljp is very well done especially when it's free. Keep up the good work.
