(pre)RC3 is released. Binaries: lj.twg.org/ljp-1.0rc3.zipInstaller: lj.twg.org/ljp-1.0rc3-instaler.zip(yes, "instaler" misses an 'l' but that's intentional. I forgot to put the 'l' in the file name and too lazy to fix it ;D) No source as of yet, and I don't think I'm going to go through the effort of releaseing it for RC3 since I'm scrapping it all anyway ;D Anyone that wants to play with it can get RC2's and wait for LJR to add anything. Now about the release itself. I'm just releasing this now at the board for some preliminary testing... I made the files kind of in a hurry and I'd like to know if it's working OK. Note that as I said already, there's stuff SUPPOSED to miss, so basically I just want to know if every emulator works. I also know there's a "normal"-labeled popup in the config screen that I couldn't get rid of. Oh well, it just covers the "screen size" one, I bet you can change the screen size from within the emu ;D So, DO NOT RUN AROUND TALKING ABOUT THIS YET. I'll do a day or two of testing, fix something if it needs so, then releasing RC3 for real. edit: OK to run around now

does this require the use of UDMH, because I remember you saying that a new release wouldn't require it.

Uh, no, I just said I was working on it. This one still needs UDMH. Everyone has UDMH already anyway

NGP works great SMS works great GG also (notice snes & genz works great with RC2, of course *** dont work with rc2 )

Uh? There's **? Nobody told me that Now, seriously, AFAIK there's no *** in RC3 whatsoever! Oh, and about memory: if LJP shows 4682, it means UDMh is not working right--go to its settings and put some crazy value like 20MB (50MB). That way you'll force it to read the highest value possible.

Grr, made some huge cleaning in the memory, removed some games, with 65.8Mo/114.8 Mo i can run in asm mode both snes & genz and play secret of mana as well.
a thing i noticed : free ram : 4701K i launch a game and quit free ram : 3491K
is there a memory issue ?

Maybe. But the weirdest thing is UDMH seeming to not work... it should show around 18M as on my LD (with 50M setting in UDMH).

angel are you SURE your using UDMH right? o Go into UDMH o Click Config o Click Add and add LJP o Select LJP and Click Modify o Check 'Clean up for this app' and set the 'K of dynamic memory' to: 19260 o Hit Ok, Hit Done, Check 'Enable' o Try LJP again UDMH is working completely normal for me in RC3 Hope this helps you out.

If the DBCache is full, even UDMH can't make a miracle...

there's no *** in RC3 right? that's waiting for LJR.

No there is no but its easy to test. put a rom in a zip, and try to launch it. while it not works, there is no *** Edit : I have dbcache, uncache, memunfragment and udmh configured at 20mb, i also had defragmented my tx with a hard reset last week. Now it works, but as ever, the memory managment of ljp is something very random Edit² : whatever value i enter in udmh, ljp still show 4696 and around.

I had same problem on my LD with memory: LJP reported me around 4MB of memory while UDMH was set to 50 MB.Palm reseted on startup of any SNES game. When I unchecked "Clean up for this app" in UDMH, LJP reported around 19MB free mem and I managed to get few games working.

I think this version is the most stable yet on T3. Great job on recoding! No UMDH needed for T3.

I did a full reinstallation. Delete LJP folder on my SD.

Thanks, it seems it's OK to do an official release. Now, about UDMH and memory, it's funny how you must play around with the settings until it works for you. I must turn "clean up" on here LJR will probably do the UDMH-like stuff internally so this kind of trouble will not happen...

WAIT A MINUTE TINNUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a zire31, and major issues, probably an installation problem though(with the user (me)). I can't see the menubar/footbar/toolbar/bar at the bottom of the screen during emulation. If I tap it though, it still does commands. Am I missing a file or something?
Also, I have tried to figure this out, but I can't so I am going to bug you with it. The VMM (Virtual Memory Manager) from PalmGear seems to do the same as UDMH, except it has to be implemented in the code of your app. Like I said, I have no clue what this is though, so don't scream at me.

SNES (the only emu i use) is drama, UDMH can't fix it and only out of memory. I got i running once after like 10 resets, but we knew that The crowd is happy so now the long wait for LJR has begun.

I think rc3 should force lower case letters for everything. At first It was due to my OCD. But now Ive found an actual problem where if the filename is all UPPERCASE (like palm sometimes wants to make it) and you try to 'Load' a Save, your save states will not be there. You have to launch the game and then load the state. more later.. so far so good.

On my LifeDrive, SNES emulation resets when entering into options during the game (LJP options, not game itself). Apart from that, emulation seems to be stable and enough fast for comfort playing. My settings: -UDMH 5.3 -50000 KB -unchecked "Clean up for this app" -DbCacheTool -Clear type: Sync -Auto clear: OFF -App Stop: checked -Ctrl tap: unchecked -Ask at softreset: off -Clear at softreset: on -Free < 8M -Max < 8M -LD CPU Speed (overclock for LD) -CPU Speed: 520 MHz -LJP -Show RA: 19645 KB -Video: Smoothing: Fast -Video: Display 1.25x -Video: Frame skip: Auto -Video: Fast sprites: on -Video: Transparency: on -Video: Renderer: Fast -Audio: Sound: on -Audio: Freq. 22KHz -Other: CPU Core: ASM
Any advice for more speed?

Hi Tinnus.. Have noticed a problem when running genz on T3... The games will run in C core mode but when i try to run them in ASM i get a fatal exception and have to reset. Could this be an installation problem as it works fine in RC2 ? I am only asking as ASM runs the games smoother on the T3 and C core is very jerky.. Thanks for you're excellent program mate...

pickme: no idea about the beltbar issue. It would take some time to find out I think, so just try to live without it for a while (not sounding greedy, but remember the idea is not to fix small bugs) Also about VMM, I've already gone there and answered here: that method wouldn't work with LJP. voodoo83: Yes there seems to be a memory problem with the in-game menu that eats memory each time you click a button. I'll scrap all that menu code ;D dodgygeezer: dunno. I'll try on my LD later as I don't have any Gens roms now. Is the Fatal Exception labeled as something or just "Fatal Exception"? Now about LJR: I'm getting closer to a SDL NES alpha... sounds quite useless, doesn't it? I'll release those little teasers once in a while, so just keep cool, it won't be a long, boring wait (I'm finding out there's lots of stuff to change internally in the NES module though! Wow. Quite fun looking at it so deeply too. Found out it actually uses MemSemaphore in the PPU init function...)

Thanks Tinnus for your reply. The Fatal Exception is not labelled... I will try a reinstall to see if that cures the problem with gens..
Also a message to Faster90.. How do you get these frame speeds on your T3 with those settings? Especially Snes and Gens, it is imposible without running Warpspeed or another overclocking program!! Also what core setting did you use to test Gens roms as C core is extremely jerky with the settings you have provided.... Thanks...

P.S. In VGS emulation, on some games you cannot start them with the buttons.. Like Spinvaders were you can select level of difficulty but cannot start the game. Cheers anyway Tinnus for all your hard work... I have tested all other emulators on my T3 and all seem to work very well with most roms i tried...

LJP is finally working again on my NX60 with this new release. I was able to run almost all the emulators. The only problem I am having is that the device crashes whenever I want to go back to the launcher using the on-screen menu. The only way to go back without a reset is by pressing a lot of buttons at once until the "exit emu?" option appears.
NES runs perfectly (even with sound enabled, which was a problem for Clies using MCA), with GB the sound is choppy but apart from that runs great, NGP also runs OK and Genesis is a little slow (using C core).
I tried running SNES using both ASM and C cores but I had no luck (it is the only emu that I haven't been able to test). I am using UDMH and getting about 9100k heap but I keep getting the "out of memory" message (I have tried with "clean up for this app" option checked and unchecked).
BTW, in order to be able to run LJP on an NX60 the beltbar option has to be disabled.

;D small bug? Beltbar missing is small? ;D Lol, I can deal with it for awhile, since I used RC2 so much I could list the order of the beltbar buttons, and there exact location in my sleep. sheesh, small bug...........
